Lovely. And from before the big bumpers.

It's a 'T' reg by the way, not sure what style of bumpers it should have. Very secretive chap my neighbour!

From the look of the higher engine cover it looks like the later big bumpered 1500 which has had the bumpers removed

Either way, it’s a lot better looking without them.

There was a reason Fiat didn't develop the X1/9 further but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. I shall research and report back.

I think that colour and those wheels were from the mid-eighties onwards. Lad I knew had one like that on a D Plate.

I'm guessing this was at the Rob Walker Festival today?

Non event. Bertone built the car. Fiat didn't think many would sell and plain ordinary didn't bother.

Yes; you wait years to see a 250GT SWB, and then two come at once.

I went to a country show at the weekend. They had a small selection of classics on display

This is a recreation of a Keift V8 sports car. According to the leaflet on the car, only 2 were originally built: a GP car that was never finished and a race car that ended up in the US and is believed to have been destroyed. This reproduction was built using original parts and factory photos and magazine articles. It runs a 4.5 litre De Soto Firedome hemi V8 with a Jag gearbox and Jag diff connected to Keift designed IRS.

Looks like a late model. Has the Gran Finale wheels but not the black side mouldings of the GF. It's RHD but has the US side light markers.

Maybe it's been modernised.

Fiat group motorsport also dumped the X1-9 rally car at the same time as the Stratos to go full bore with the 131 Abarth

project.

Or it could be a later car, modified to look like an older version, with a "T" reg personal plate on it.

The passenger door mirror, steering wheel, door card and black door handles are all from a later car, and a "T" reg would have come with chrome windscreen/glass/buttress trim, not black.

The US marker lights are hardly the hardest conversion to do if it floats your boat.

My monies on it being a modified Gran Finale with an older registration number on it.
