The Range Rover Classic thread:
Discussion
Morning folks, sorry about the lack of updates on the one I've bought.
I bought it without an MOT, and left it with the previous owners till a local specialist could take it in, rather than risk moving it. That day was today, so it has been collected, and delivered to a garage for works.
In the meantime, here's some info on it.
It's an RRC LSE, 108in wheelbase with the 4.2 V8
First registered in June 1995 to Land Rover Solihull. It remained on the Land Rover fleet for 2 years.
It was then bought by the previous owner.
It's a soft dash model, with the Brooklands Bodykit.
It's all original with a full history, air suspension etc.
The bad bits:
The leading edge of the bonnet is pretty shot
It failed its MOT on the inner rear arches, there are holes forming near where the door latches
So, it's in being tended to now as we speak. I'll leave pictures until it's back, and looking more resplendent.

That's a tricky one. I have seen suffix As advertised from £5k as restoration candidates to £70k done.
The 1 owner bit is clearly massively positive for a collector
Land rover seem quite keen on the idea. ill let you know how i get on.
Think I'd try Land Rover themselves?
Failing that it really depends on condition . Unrestored is brilliant for patina but then again it could be full of rust and a £40k project!
So my best stab assuming it looks good close up is something like £30-40k. I'm taking as an example the white A Tom Hartley had at £70k and working back. Equally there is a restored A on eBay currently with 57k miles and the opening bid is £20k but no idea what the reserve is
You need a high end dealer on the case I think...JD Classics or similar. Or maybe Bonhams or Silverstone auctions at a classic event?

scam or bargain??
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/Range-Rover-Classic...
just seem to recall it being for sale recently and intuitively £10k seems far too cheap
is this one of those rehashed adverts by a scammer?
this is the answer I got to an email- dont think it inspires confidence
Hello,
I still have the Range Rover Classic for sale, the condition is excellent and it has no damages or any faults. All necessary documents available. My current location is N.Ireland due to my work commitments. If this is going to be a quick sale, I will let it go for £9950 delivered at my costs.
The deal will go through eBay and PayPal.
Thank you
Tracey

Well done, welcome to the soft dash LSE club! Get them to check the bulkhead!!I bought it without an MOT, and left it with the previous owners till a local specialist could take it in, rather than risk moving it. That day was today, so it has been collected, and delivered to a garage for works.

Bonntes seem vulnerable and finding another in good shape has proved an issue so far - well one that isn't 200 miles away. If they have another spare let me know!
Otherwise they are venerable old buses, good as a transit replacement at times and equally happy being more upmarket.
Who's got it?

Chaps, I would be grateful if anyone could post a photo of the position of the coil and air box area. Mine has got a K&N cone on at the moment, and I want to put the original metal canister type air box back on, but it won't fit because my coil has been moved. Thank you.
Can I bump this for if any one has their head under the bonnet this weekend. Ta!Penny for your thoughts on this:
Yes it's leggy but after a haggle to £2.5k could present good value as a weekend runner?
Leather, new headlining, decent MOT history, tailgate looks OK, receipts for recent engine rebuild. Rear arches look good too.

even assuming this is a pile of rust, £2k seems vaguely sensible if someone wanted a Lincoln Green 2 door project
1975 car, seats look ok, looks fairly unmessed with, just lots of TLC and cash needed
no affiliation, just looks quite good value

Will I be thrown mercilessly under a bus if I post a link to a P38?

That looks a good buy. Needs some bits - rear bumper end caps, side repeaters, but assuming the shiny paint doesn't hide anything horrible it should be worth a go. Would be worth asking what work was done on the engine. Best colour too Yes it's leggy but after a haggle to £2.5k could present good value as a weekend runner?
