I don't see that as patina, more like neglect and vandalism! I'm sure it'll resurface before too long looking every bit as good as it did 40 years ago. No doubt accompanied by a dapper looking gentleman with an umbrella a bowler.

If anyone finds out what the two RNLI Ferraris go for (250 SWB and 275 GTB) at the end of the auction, can they please post it in the following General Gassing thread unless someone beats you to it?

On the positive side, anyone who pays that sort of money will also be able to afford to do the car justice.

Well I have a problem with this. I was a real Avengers fan back in the day; partly due to the magical sillyness of it and the undoubted appeal of Mrs. Peel's ass!

There were some scenes of Steed driving the Coupe from inside the car and it was definitely a manual. I remember that distinctly. I am also sure it had different wheels from this one. It is of course, highly possible there were two or even more cars used for filming and, if this is the case, the manual one would certainly have been a lot more interesting; and worth the money!

I wonder what would happen if it turned up next week as a "barn find"?

Yep it was a jaguar development car for the xjc, originally lavender then sent to Ralph broad who was instructed to fit the bodywork from the xjc race cars and re painted metallic green, keeping all the running gear standard

£ crazy money, but hopefully it will be restored. I'm still sure I read somewhere years ago that it was a manual.

Does anyone know where I could get a body kit for the jaguar xjc, looking for the broadspeed /steed look.

Not that it matters but for clarification, Emma Peel was of course in The Avengers and drove a Lotus Elan. Purdey in The New Avengers was played by Joanna Lumley.

Not a hope anymore, other than posting a wanted ad somewhere. Someone might just have one of the kits lying unused in a shed somewhere.
I remember seeing ads in old CCC's and Hot Car up until the early 80's advertising Broadspeed style fibreglass arch/spoiler kits for the XJC. Can't remember the name of the firm that made them though.

Otherwise, it's getting a good bodyshop to fabricate them in ally.

A company called fibresports still do the kits, you can buy them new.

They don't fit amazingly well as the company had a fire and had to take moulds fr an existing kit. They'll fit bit need a fair bit of work.

Google them, they're about £500.

Wonderful that they are giving it a monster engine, but ensuring it can be returned to 'original' if need be!
