Lovely car Sir....
I have a Modena Mk1 too, its so nice to see a Big Wing. I remember going to the AVO Nationals at Stanford Hall back in the day, I often saw a Mk1 RS2000 in Modena with a registration that I'm sure began with OKO....
Or was it OJO***P.... Modena with a factory black vinyl roof?I have a Modena Mk1 too, its so nice to see a Big Wing. I remember going to the AVO Nationals at Stanford Hall back in the day, I often saw a Mk1 RS2000 in Modena with a registration that I'm sure began with OKO....
If so, that was the last RS2000 registered new in the UK. Owned from new by Roger Bailey, who was one of the AVO OC first committee members when the club was formed in 1980. Roger sold the car to a mate of mine in 1984, after 9 years ownership and only just over 40k miles, with all original panels and paintwork. I was offered it when he put it up for sale 18 months later, and stupidly, I didn't buy it

No it wasn't OJO***P. It was actually a Mk1 Big Wing in Modena, I've just found an old pic of the car....reg was OKO***M.
Aahh.........yup, I remember that car now, the aging memory cells have been kickstarted into action....Probably got a photo of it somewhere......seem to recall it was fitted with BBS type multi spoke rims when it first appeared?(this would have been around mid 80's)

OKO, I'm not familiar with, Stanford Hall was a great venue.I have a Modena Mk1 too, its so nice to see a Big Wing. Do I spot low backs, front opening quarters, front coil overs, single leafs, wingard and of course rally lights on the front. Stick up a few more shots, it looks fab

Found it... well this is from 2007 not aware of who has it now ?
This looks so well in this colourMy aim was to build a car that looked like it could have left the factory like this. Relatively standard but with big arches.
I wonder why so few were built......I don't recall it being a particularly expensive option

So were the comp seats a Ford option?
Not a regular option on a normal RS2, no. But, we're talking AVO-SB here, so pretty much anything was an option through that process!
Special Build is how the 1300E look-a-like Purple Velvet Mexico came about.
My first car was a mid 74 M-reg 1300E in sunset red around 1986. Plus 60 rebored 1600GT,285 cam, Capri 3-litre Weber rejetted, lightened flywheel, balanced, ported and big inlets, etc, last taxed 1992 and body in poor condition by then. Dash, interior, and trim lived on in other Mk1s. Great car to drive, lumpy tickover and so easy to rev past 7k. Capri struts and a 3.77 lsd. Home made anti-tramps welded on. 2000E 4 speed box. Looked standard on Ford sports steelies but mex width ones. Headlining sprayed black.
Mex flared front wings but didnt have type 49 strut tops, etc. Rectangular headlamps which were like candles, hence 2 Cibie Super-Oscars.
Have period pics somewhere, probably stored in my folk's garage loft.
Enjoyed that car very much but always looking for more power. Enter the 3- litre Capri . . .
And the 1300E was sold to a good mate in 87.
Edit, I have a 1986 magazine "The RS Fords" which features a modena mk1 RS2000 SOW 146N. Car sorned recently so it's still around almost 30 years later. Anyone on here know more?

1300E look a like purple velvet Mex? More info plz.
A guy went into a RS dealer, late 73 is, and test drove a Mex, liked it, but after test drive, pointed at a new Purple Velvet 1300E in the showroom and said, can I have looking like that?Dealer phoned Special Build direct, and they said yes, and AVO built his Mex, with Custom Pack (vinyl roof, RS seats, wood dash & console, etc) but in Purple Velvet, and with 1300E style over-rider bumpers as well IIRC. It looked exactly like a 1300E two-door but with Mexico badges, etc. The car turned up at a AVO National Day back in the mid 80's, guy who owned, I think bought it of the original owner, thus knowing the full story of how it came about. Car was mint. Again, I will photo's of it somewhere in a box
I presume (hope) it's still around, being such a unique car.

I think that was Pete Turton's RS2 back in the early/mid 80's? (maybe still is?) I seem to remember his car was featured in a mag around that time. But, the mind can play tricks on an old farts memory I'll have photo's of it somewhere in the collection of old photos that's in boxes in the loft.
