I have had several fast Fords, RS2000 Custom, 280 Turbo technics Capri and 3000S unusually on a Y plate. There is a 1600 Sport in a Copper Gold colour LHD for sale reg EEL that seems cheap. It’s been up for ages anyone know why? Seller seems to sell a lot of performance Ford bits and Porkers.

You got a link? Tawny and Copper Bronze were gone by then, and it doesn't look like Tibetian Gold, but maybe Arizona Gold, although was more a 75/76 era Ford colour....?

What a lovely colour.....don't recall seeing many Ford's in that colour back in the late 70's.

The whole car's been painted - you can see the lower inner wings look a bit sparse. You'd need to look at it very carefully as these things love to rot. Despite the German build (all RS2000's were) most 1978 Escorts were rotten in 1988. It didn't take that long for the rot to take hold
I can remember going to look at a few in 1984/5 that were well on their way to ferric oxide heaven....
The Halewood ones were shocking. Ford Saarlouis built stuff better with decent steel and more care over undersealing and painting. Even so....I can remember going to look at a few in 1984/5 that were well on their way to ferric oxide heaven....
Most Fords were absolute scrap at 10 years old back then. I had a ten year old Mark 6 1.25 Fiesta last year, 120,000 miles and still in perfect order and zero rust. 'The good old days'.

Nice, just checking this thread to see if I,m repeating myself (again!) but my second car back in 1978 was GOO 99N mk1 rs2, Modena green, big wing, but with the big stripes. And I can't find any pics
Dagenham registered. Good chance it was a Ford Motor Company registered car That makes sense as it came from the east end of london, Dad acquired it for me from a business acquaintance, who's son owned it.
Mind you, Dad took a couple of months to inform me about the RS as he was enjoying it too much taking it for a blast up the Meon Valley most weekends
We paid £2000 for it in 78, sold it a year or so later [it was replaced by Dad's Mk 2 RS2 X pack as he had lost his license ] for £2100 !
