Aston that has seen better days and sitting in the open alongside A229 at Knox Bridge, Kent between Staplehurst and Sissinghurst. It sits in front of a single house called Thrift Cottage biggrin

I was passing thru, but if anyone knows more ...
On the Aston section:

"It sold at auction 6 years ago (September 07, 2013):
https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/aston-martin/...

Was never MOT'd again (Last was 13 August 2013)."
This kind of thing really winds me up. Why bother buying a car at auction to let it rot in your driveway for six years.........
The buyer probably gave up on it after several attempts at sitting in the left hand seat and reaching the steering wheel and pedals:

You'd think Bonham's would get their facts right - such as which side of the car the steering wheel is on! rolleyes
That's not Bonhams website, it's classicdriver.com website - they regulalry leave wrong stuff in

According to Bonhams, it was withdrawn so was never sold

Reading between the lines, maybe the owner discovered a serious (read expensive!) fault and had to withdraw it (?)

Could do with having some serious TLC
That’s been sitting there for 15+ years. For the last few years I’ve been wondering whether it was a Capri based kit!

Even so, the tyres are the least concern to see this back on the road. Engine rebuild aside that is one iconic piece of motoring history !!

1 of these is a (future) classic the other simply doesn't sit well in the ordinary abandoned cars thread. Neither of them looked like they'd turned a wheel for some time.

Isn’t the model designation for the Maybach a 57s?

Didn't realise these had competition pedigree! Sandro Munari campaigned one in the 1988 Rally Greece but it never finished.

Southerby's sold a concours one last year for $300k so even if you valued it at $200k there should be a bit of margin in restoring the black one surely?

Happened across a pale blue Lotus today, slowly returning to earth... no idea what it was but Google would suggest a Lotus Elan Plus 2.

Every now and again a gem will appear in our local ebay site. Today this caught my eye.....

https://www.wightbay.com/ryde/cars/bentley-turbo-r...

Not MOT'ed since 2009 but with only 15k miles on the clock.....
More interesting is the Silver Shadow with the funky paint in the background. It's an early car with blue leather. I think chippendale dash. I'd love to have a go at restoring it. I think he is the chap that runs Clay Clay on Bembridge High Street.
The Silver Shadow was also for sale a year or so ago - but obviously did not sell. Might be worth a cheeky offer.... smile
