Mate, I dont understand the sellers thinking - who is going to buy a part off that car, when the individual parts arent even photographed?

20 quid for a hubcab that is a 'bit rusty' - err... how rusty? Rusty like the rest of hte car (i.e. flaked into the ground)?

Better off just listing it as one car to take away

And I seriously doubt there is anything whatsoever of value in the whole pile of dust.

I agree, once the 3 genuinely 'good' parts are taken from it, the rest can swept in the bin.

He would have been better to sell the whole car IMHO?

Its crazy - and its this kind of delusion about the value of things that ensures cars like these rot before they are sold.

I did a bit of googling and a car like that went for auction (Not in perfect condition) for 5 grand. A car you can get into and drive away.
Crazy.

It’s the ‘Trotters’ syndrome... not to be confused with the ‘Triggers broom’ syndrome.

I would guess he just wants to sell any parts which anyone happens to want before weighing in the scrap.

The £20 for a random part is a well established ebay ruse to advertise multiple parts with one listing.

As the listing says, it looks like some of the chrome trim is OK, which might be of value to someone.

Not sure why he won't sell the whole car, maybe some bits are already sold?
Maybe they are spoken for but not yet removed.
Maybe he doesn't want the hassle of people who imagine they can mend it.

From the advert ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314189772315?hash=item4... )

"Not selling complete so don't ask. Selling parts only"

That makes a change - Usually you can only buy the whole car and not just some parts smile
For those asking, he or she is refusing to sell the whole car to prevent its use as a ringing kit; for those that don't know, you buy a complete wreck like that to gain clear title of a clean chassis number, 'obtain' another example of the car, transfer everything over and apply for a registration and logbook on the clean chassis number.

Sign of an honest seller, perhaps.

More likely he doesn't have the title or log book.
Old cars are not really ringed. No point.

… or sills, judging by that image. Still elegant though.

There is another thread on here that proves otherwise. Vehicle identities sell for a lot of money.

Engine, 'box and maybe suspension parts are shared with Big Healey, looks like engine has gone but other parts might be worth something.

Engine and gearbox are missing IIRC

Id understand if it was a Ferrari or old 60s Jag or something...
But again, you can buy a working car of this model for around 5k.....

I really fail to see any value in it

Bangers & Cash had a Vanden Plas Princess R for about £5K, admittedly, it did need a lot of attention... but at least it was all in one piece.

I wonder if anyone used the Rolls Royce engine from the Vanden Plas Princess R in an Austin Healey or an MGC. It was aluminium IIRC.

Just thinking out loud.
