Ha! This afternoon I got my Imp from the shed where it lived since last summer. Started no problem of course (OK the mechanical fuel pup did not work so I temporarily used an electric one), drove it home. - around 15 miles. It was almost 30 degrees outside. I knew it was low on coolant so I had to had to switch the heater on. Made it without overheating, the temp gauge was very near the red. Imps are great!

I always thought the Excel was nice looking and well proportioned, had it been the incarnation of that design, I think Lotus 2nd foray in to the world of four seats may have been somewhat more successful.

A really well balance 2+2 (rear seats not really suited to full grown adults foe long journeys), better built than many would have you believe, (I've had 3 Excels and 2 TVR Wedges of similar era) Mostly Toyota mechanicals. Rear 3/4 looks a little large in certain colours but a very good car.
One of our sons is currently enjoying a road trip in the USA with his girlfriend. He sent me these photos of a bunch of sad MGs today - parked in a lot alongside a garage in Roanoke, Virginia. Not a good scenario as I believe Roanoke enjoys hot damp summers and cold snowy winters.
Google provided the answer. The owner of "Union Jack Ltd" died last year. Sounds like he was a loveable eccentric kind of guy who was very competent but someone who conducted deals on a handshake and with minimal documentation. Apparently many more MGs are scattered around the town, some in locations unknown, along with many half-rebuilt engines. There are issues with his Estate so plenty of owners currently struggling to locate or reclaim cars/spares.
Nerd time - note the triple wipers on the 'B and Midget in the foreground. Some Southern States legislated that a minimum % of the windshield had to be covered by the wipers - thus forcing MG to adopt a triple wiper set up.
Those wheels on the semi-Sebring replica GT look familiar - maybe American Racing Vectors (as seen on General Lee the D.o.H. Dodge Charger) ??

Reminiscent of the MG garage that used to be located a few minutes walk from me - basically every available piece of land within a 50 metre radius was occupied by cars associated with the garage; mostly MG's but under the black cover next to the T25 (which itself was rare 4WD syncro) was a seventies Corniche. There s an old style garage that specialises in MGs right slap in the middle of Morton, just north of Bourne, Lincs. On the A15 towards Lincoln. There s a Co-op-type shop, some nice houses and then this huge garage right on the road, with bodyshells lying about etc.
