While I'm not an old Ford fanboi, it would be lovely to see something like that MkII out on the road.

We had a metallic dark brown 1.3 GL 4 door shortly after I passed my test, which I often got to borrow. It was a sweet little thing, comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Most you see nowadays are trying to be some sort of rally / racing car homage so to see an un-Barried one is unusual.

Not sure if this is considered a classic but it certainly looks left to die.
I had one of these as a second car that i picked up for £500. It has a galvanised chassis, so not any issues with rust, but the sensors go as a regular occurrence and given the cost of these it is almost death by a thousand cuts, as it very quickly becomes uneconomical to keep it on the road. Shame as i used to drive to Maldon early morning and it was a blast round the twisty roads out in South Essex.

Nice to see one of these in this colour as I had exactly the same car once, except a D reg. Gave it to my mother-in-law who promptly ran it into a wall, ending its existence, but not hers!

My rims weren t as wide though!

Had three decent MoT passes with zero advisories until it changed hands and failed on severe corrosion

The MkII Escort Ghia s MoT ran out in 2016. But it is taxed!

.
My first car was a 4-door 1.6 Ghia in that colour, on an “R” plate. Loved that car.

Maybe not strictly left to rot; but cleared from a late, elderly relative's collection 18 months ago. They had been unused for at least the past twenty years. Just thought these pics might interest a few on here. (No prizes for guessing where my love of pre war cars comes from!)

You've unearthed the the UK's secret cold war Austin 12/4 stockpile, lay down in preparation for the balloon going up; after the EMP the only things still in operation will be cockroaches, wind-up alarm clocks and cars with magnetos. hehe

That middle car was last taxed 20 years ago, when it was three years old!

Bloody hell. I know they aren't the last bastion of reliability and dependability ( I'm qualified to comment, I've had 3 ), but 3 years, even for one of those, is surely a new low!

Austin 7s, not 12s. Almost got a full set of all the different models there as well!

My first car was a '34 Morris Minor 2 seater tourer, My mate used to have a similar age A7 Opal. It was surprising how similar the body shape was.

Doesn't require an MOT (showing as exempt, not expired) and historic VED (free).

There s a few here not being used - that Jag coupe though how does a car get to that state?

There's some money in those number plates!! The four door Clio had only done 21,700 miles on it's last MOT in 2019. I don't think that's 121k as the MOT history starts at 4000 miles in 2006.

I can't work out the H reg Clio though. I guess it's a 1.4 or something? With phase 2 Clio 16V / R19 16V wheels, and opening / pop out rear windows.

They've had the wheels banded, banded steels is a thing that's often done to them smile

I ve seen this Ensign before and put it on PH, but not in this thread. It s in here now as it s no longer taxed which is a shame, and judging from the look of it, it s another car that s been standing for a bit.
