Probably not a bad car if you were looking for a GT project. I wonder what work it’s had underneath - the rusty castle sections on mine from years ago still give me nightmares.

This was looking sorry for itself with a thin layer of organic matter growing below it. In the direction of the affluent suburbs of Clifton, Bristol.

Withnail.

I love the broken blue tow rope of shame.

That must be one of the last produced as the final ones were manufactured in July 1969.

Is that a perspex plate at the front and a metal one at the back?

Judging by the unloved look of the car, I doubt that was of great concern to the owner.

The Day of the Black Jags

6-litre with a plate to match. No MoT since 2023.

Again no MoT and the bonnet was sun-drenched as hell with no lacquer left on it. L13 XJB.

Those were brilliant handling cars - the 16v was a decent performer as well despite the G60 and later VR6 getting the headlines. Shame to see it like that.

This one looks likes it’s taken a hit from a farm vehicle or something ahead of the rear wheel

Back in the day I was passenger in a mate’s Corrado G60, when the back end suddenly slewed across the carriageway on a bend. He stopped and we checked for a flat tyre but nothing. He took it to the local VW dealer for a check, but they gave it a clean bill of health. Only recently I have read that they have some sort of rear wheel steer capability. Is that correct?

Yes, they did - some form of compliant rear axle mountings, derived from the Passat if I recall correctly.
