Everything from that era liked to go crispy, it's just a matter of degree; even mythically solid things like W123s rotted enthusiastically if neglected/parked in long grass/etc.

Just being used is enough for a W123 to go rusty. The reputation for being solid is more to do with the running gear.

I nearly drove straight past this it blended in so well. A maroon (not so you’d know) Mini 1275GT untaxed since 1986. DVLA has it registered with that size engine anyway - the GT badge is long gone though. And it seems to have wheelarch extensions on it …

A VR6 as well … MoT ran out a dozen years ago. Looked relatively solid though.

It's a '68 car so would have done most of its work in the 70s when the bad boys would have been using something more nimble than a MkII Jag, I'd have thought. Door bottom, sill and arches look OK and I see it's on SORN, last V5 in 2022.

One from the last year in production. I'd knock on the door if I knew where that was. Already been through the horror show of ownership unpredictability with regard to '' what's going to break today '' way back when I had mine, and time's a great healer!

Ah the old Mark 1 Sprout
In my teenage years I wanted one as my first car, couldn't find one that wasn't rotten, this was 1970/72 era, and ended up with a Mark 4 Midget.
I've noted prices of the "frogeye" have dropped of late and keep thinking should I, but my last attempts at getting into one a few years back resulted in much huffing and puffing.
