Thanks to both of you who replied for clearing that up.

Small world - the pic of the Saracen on the transporter is actually of it being delivered to the house in my pic.

looks like a bizarre house as well - is it inhabited or business premises?

Original 1967 GT40 (GT40P/1070) running to a 1965 specification. It was originally a road car, sold to the States new. Raced in a couple of club events. In 1970 it crashed and caught fire caused by an exploding fuel tank where it was "destroyed". Law suit against Ford and the tank manufacturer. Remains sold in 1974 then rebuilt in the 2000's.
Rebuilt - seriously? Wow!

The important bit survived... the chassis identification plate. wink

Have a look at http://www.racingicons.com/gt/index.html for some more restorations although P/1070 was rebuilt by Gelscoe - http://gelscoemotorsport.com/ They don't feature it on their website (apart from a passing note in the gallery) but they have a few toolroom/continuation copies.

There's some serious hardware in that picture. Mercedes 300SL Roadster, 2 x Porsche 904 GTS and the aforementioned GT40 plus the 911s.

It's residential. Looks to be in need of renovation, not sure if it's actually inhabited or not. Currently has building site type fencing across the driveway and garden wall, but there was a light on in the hallway. Would make an awesome place as a single dwelling or even converted sympathetically to flats.

Big Al will be along shortly to move this post to "Houses left to die / rotting pics"

The GT40 looks effin' glorious, what a way to brighten up a rainy day beer

The post fire shots show how the basic design and layout of the Ford influenced the original Miura chassis which was built 'out of hours' in 1965.

Do you know the background of the car ?
I'd say it's bushes, shrubs, ferns, weeds, moss and some small trees! wink

Blimey, a forward control Land Rover from Judge Dredd! Wonder how they got their hands on that?
Ex- Gaydon Museum, probably off loaded during one of their periodical clear outs.
Gaydon still have one on display as of a couple of weeks ago.

Strange, the only vaguely useable bits of the wreck (apart from the engine block) were the wire wheels and they put mags on it!

Not really left to rot, what would you call this? Rat look? Just the thing for popping to Sainsbury's on a Monday night, which is where I saw it.

There was one exactly the same as that rotting away on a drive in Dalkeith for years around 1991.

Steering wheel is on the wrong side, and that's just the tip of the steberg.

Yes it's RHD, but the lack of flared arches is also a key.

Let's hope it stays there too. Better still, let's hope someone takes it to the local council tip pronto. No offence whistle

I think that's Bonnyrigg rather than Dalkeith. I can remember old Citroens sitting outside that particular house from decades ago !

Bonnyrigg. That’s a name I haven’t heard in years. My grandparents lived on eldindean road. There was an old railway track behind their bungalow which had a very steep drop down to it.
