The pedant in me leaps forth and mentions these were never actually called the "JPS Edition" by Ford, they were officially the "Midnight Special" based on all versions of the "S" (1.6, 2.0 and 3.0). There were far fewer white than black cars built.

Reference: "Ford Capri" (Graham Robson)

We (Dad) had a MK2 3.0 S in black and gold on an R plate, the wheels in the first picture look different, I remember ours having more of a 'dish' to them, like the ones in the German press photo (jspent many hours rubbing them down to paint them gold) the ones in the first picture look like more of a Cosmic style to me, the side stripes and S badges were the same
The wheels in the OP picture look more like Mk1 Granada Ghia alloys to me, can't recall ever seeing those style on a Capri S or Ghia when new, or in any Ford literature of the day?

I once owned a 1974 Capri 2.0 Ghia that had those wheels fitted from new.Mine had black inserts with a polished outer surface. They weren't common and may have only been a feature of earlier Mk2 versions.

I had a 3.0 Ghia mk 3 manual in Midnight Blue.
'W' plate 82 I think.
Almost Black to look at it.
Special order from Jennings (Manual/Ghia).
It had alloy spoked wheels, I remember they were a bd to keep clean.
Stolen near Newcastle never recovered!

Those alloys are MK2 Capri ones. They could have easily been swapped out, due to theft, or needing new tires, so one buys the rims as well.

I believe they were, but it was the style I was saying is very much like a Granada Ghia Mk.1 alloy, and thus why I said, I don't recall ever seeing a similar style alloy on a Capri? i.e that there were the same style wheels in both sizes?

I think they're more a generic aftermarket (possibly German, such as Ronal?) alloy, a friend has some on his very original early Celica 1600GT. But I do recall them on a lot of Mk1 Granadas.

Like so?

However, a bit of Googling showed Ronal did both flavours (4- and 5-stud), plus they've long been a Ford supplier, I'm sure some of my RS 4-Spokes have had "Ronal" cast in them somewhere.

Yes, found them now, very rare now nowadays by all accounts.

Referred to as a Ronal Kleeblatt (cloveleaf) and they are marked on the inside of the wheel with both Ronal name and Ford 'oval' mark.

Everyone I knew craved Wolfrace Wheels for their Capri's.
Personally, Ididn't like them.
You were right about tyres.
Loads of rims stolen just for the tyres.
TWOK ing was the main hobby of scroats where I lived!

In the early - mid 80, all I craved after for my various 3 Litre Capris, were 6 x 13 Minilites, they were God like, to myself and a few others, but they were ££ Way to expensive for me. And used ones rarely came up and when they did, sold very quickly.
I finally managed to buy a new set of my dream rims a few months ago !

Looks like a 3.0S, had a 1.6 JPS, apart from the gold side stripes on an 'S', the JPS had them on the wing tops and bonnet front edge, also a gold band behind rear reg. plate, black edging on rear lights not chrome etc.
Although not officially called a JPS the chassis tag would say 'J.P.SPECIAL'

Cheers DBSV8 smile , it's evolved a bit since I started racing it in 1987, currently doing Classic Thunder and Modified Fords.
Gave it a bit of a makeover during lockdown, I isolated in the garage for 4 months whilst on furlough and made all the panels in carbon fibre biggrin
Engine is a 5.0 32V Cobra V8, about 500bhp, running gear is BMW M3, E46 front legs, E90 rear subframe. AP Brakes 386 & 330mm, 18" wheels and ex BTCC tyres. Weights about 1060kgs.
