Unlikely to find a '63 Elan for less than a '73 variant.

Middlebridge Scimitars go for more than Reliant ones.
Middlebridge was pitched as a more plush upmarket car wasn't it ?

TR3 over TR2 ?? certainly more than the original roadster.

Griffith 500 fetch more than earlier 400/430 ,at least they used to.
TR3a over TR3 and also late Mercedes R129....................although I am probably biased.

Later models of Opel Manta's especially the GTE's with plastic bumpers etc fetch more money than the first models of the Manta B with chrome bumpers.
Here is my 1978 Manta SR parked next to my mates 1986 Manta i200

Also, while people have already mentioned the Porsche 944 (late Turbo worth multiples of early n/a) the same is strongly true of the 924 (Turbo, 2.5S and CGT variants especially, but also cooking 2.0 models), 928 (GTS worth multiples of early car) and 968 (CS worth about twice as much as a mechanically identical coupe).

Also Merc 124 S-class caloon and coupe: what you want is a late 265 hp 500 or a 560 rather than one of the early ones. On the R129 I am of the opinion that the early 500 will end up worth more than the late one, but at the moment the late ones are still worth more because to a point they are still having the rules of the conventional use car market applied to them i.e. newer = automatically likely to be less shagged out

Another one: a good late Lotus Excel SE is worth more than an Eclat or an early Excel, and rightly so 'cause it's a much better car.

But the Mk 2 cars were 4.7 litre, not 4.2 I believe, and very few made which accounts for it. Conversely, the earlier an E-type, the more valuable, except for the last 50 commemorative cars I guess.

Ah, but would one of the first 50 E-Types be worth more than one of the last 50?

Most certainly. The outside lock roadsters are now over £300,000 and a LHD flat floor was sold in Portugal three weeks back at €582,000. Of course, a RHD outside lock fixed head could now be very very dear. There were only four and one is CUT 7 and the other Philip Porter's chassis #1. Not sure where #3 is.

One of the first 50 XK120s would be worth a pretty penny these days, mind an XK150 went at auction for an eye popping amount recently. Sadly it wasn't my one biggrin

There wasn't a 3.0S MK1.

It was GT or GXL.

RS3100 and RS 2600 BTW worth considerably more than any other Capri.

My old man had the Vauxhall version of your one at the back there - R reg. Same colour too. YWL 1R. Red interior ... first car I'd ever been in where the door glass had no frame to it. Different wheels though and no vinyl top, but then the Opel was kinda the posh Vauxhall, wasn't it?

Much prefer the look of your earlier one to the later one in front.

I once had a late K reg (71 or 72) Triumph Herald estate that had the ignition switch on the steering column complete with a steering lock.Would be worth bingo numbers now.

Probably not - regardless of pedantry have you looked at prices for 280 Brooklands models!
