I drive my 30 year old MR2 to work every day.
And in this case, to the library :
It's kind of difficult to realise that it's 30 years old already. Where did the time go? confused
I drove one when they were brand new .
I was asked if a wanted one and replied no thanks .
When asked why not ? I replied that my licence wouldn't last a month if I drove one regularly.
I have only ever enjoyed three sports cars , a cobra , a healey 3000 and a mk1 MR2 .

Good list thumbup

I drive the MR2 daily and haven't lost my license yet, even with 160 hp and living in a state with draconian speed enforcement.
However I get some of my speed fix driving it on a hillclimb track, and some navigating this through the forest :

It's definitely not a daily driver, but I would call it a classic.

The 3rd crew member is Fiona, who has been rallying with me for over 30 years :

That's brave! I had one for a few years - not the ideal commuter.

95% of the niceness of a Lamborrari for about 10% of the cost. IMO.

I know the Excel is the better engineered car, but the Eclat has the styling purity.

Shame Lotus never had a car called the Eclair.

Particularly in chocolate brown. Or cream.

Saw a guy in his 1975 Hillman Hunter, reg starting HLK, commuting this morning. Felt like the young upstart as I overtook in something 14 years newer! smile

I see this quite often. Looks very delicately styled amongst the moderns ...

Driven to work everyday, currently doing 12k+ miles per year and reading 254k. It is a very capable and practical modern classic.

Yes, today and everyday! My 1982 Alfa Romeo Giulietta saloon fitted with a 3.0 V6 and all the running gear from a 75. Just taken myself, wife 5 year old and baby on a long weekend to Devon and back without missing a beat. The newest car in our household also happens to be an E39, which is my wife's daily runner. It took months to find a manual Sport Touring version.

Never mind the engine conversion - there can't be many Giuliettas still running! Fewer than 10 still on the road?

The last time I saw one was in 2008, roundabout the time that Northern Rock experienced a run on the bank.... Here it is in Golders Green, outside the local branch of, er, Northern Rock:

I'm driving my "new" vehicle this week, to confirm that the head repair is ok before some rally car towing.
It's 25 years old - what other boxes does it have to tick to count as a "classic"?
