Damn - I started reading the longer version before you’d listed the shorter one laugh 156 paragraphs later and I’m feeling quite happy to know I’ll never be in a position to buy such a car!

Laymans attempt at a summary of the USA case.

Hope someone qualified can correct or amplify.

Plaintiff sues Uncle Tom Cobley and all. However Tom and most of the players are outside the court’s jurisdiction so they leave the case leaving Hamann , the only American, alone in the dock. However the case revolves primarily around Uncle Tom and his mates and their shenanigans and they are out and Hamann is only a bit player. The plaintiff’s case is not really written around Hamann’s part in the scam, It’s really about Tom and his mates. Consequently, the Plaintiff has failed to make a reasonable case against Hamann on the evidence and the case is dismissed.

Plaintiff is out on the value of the cars and his legal fees. Unsure who had to pay Hamann’s costs

It's interesting looking back at comments on the state of the market and how wrong they were, but we all have 20:20 hindsight. However, giving this a quick kick, do we have any further news of the state of play regarding Mr Hood?

The house was on the market for over £3 million from memory, but that is a drop in the ocean compared to what Charme were suing for.

I just noticed that Woodham Mortimer are now also using the 'JD Classics' name on some of their social media, certainly Twitter and Instagram, but not on their website, even on the 'About' page

Strikes me as a wee bit odd?

JD used to have a good reputation, however unfounded, and not everyone knows what happened to them so, whilst risky, WM have presumably decided the name's good for marketing.

Or not as bad as W&M? As you suggest, everyone in the market who might be a potential customer has probably heard of JD whereas almost no one will recognise the new W&M brand. Maybe they've reached the point in time where enough people know the Hood story that any negativity to the JD brand is dwarfed by the traffic it can bring compared to the unknown W&M?

To the average person Hood is just another second hand car dealer. A bit of an Arfur Daley like a lot of them. Move on! People with more money than sense tend to get taken advantage by them if they can get away with it!

I'm nothing exceptional by any stretch of the imagination (thereby pretty 'average') and even I can see the guy was/is a .

Exactly this ^^^ trying to cash in on the good quality of the work that JD did - however (virtually)none of the then engineering/bodywork/trim staff are still there...

I made a comment on one of the many Jaguar posts they are putting on IG at the moment asking exactly this. Seems to have been deleted and can no longer see the post...

It’s a great picture but what’s it got to do with JD Classics?

Quite easy that one Austin A40 MkI, Morris 1100, Bedford CA Dormobile and our starter for ten the Mini Cooper S. smile
p.s. Not quite so easy because I didn't spot the car on the drive in the top left but if pushed I'd say Humber Scepter. biggrin

The commercial side (Derek) of JD is worth a Netflix miniseries but the quality of work from the workshop was always peak. Mortimer W is formed from the old JD workshop team so the quality is probably similarly top notch. The reprise of the name in relation to the quality of the work is possibly justified although deeply high risk if associated with the crooked bit of the past:
