Longest ownership and still yours

Bought this in April 1992, so 26 and a half years at time of writing, more than half my life. It was my everyday car until 2004 when I got a house with a garage and decided to preserve it, but it does still get used!
Largely unrestored apart from some paint and a conversion to EFi. Drove it 500 miles in a single weekend last month. It goes just fine and always has.
I won't be selling.

Massive respect, such an utterly cool car /Professionals fan/Largely unrestored apart from some paint and a conversion to EFi. Drove it 500 miles in a single weekend last month. It goes just fine and always has.

I've owned my 1964 Series IIA Land Rover since 1993 when I was 17. It was previously owned by my dad (who's upgraded to a Series III) who bought my one second hand in the early 70s.

I bought this 1938 Lea-Francis in November 1979, so I've had it for (near enough) half its (and my) life!
That is stunning!.I still have a Serbia black Lancer turbo I purchased in 1990, unfortunately it is sat on a farm rusted beyond hope, but parts still live on in my current Lancer and it has helped to keep it on the road.
My Wife and I had been married for almost ten years in February 1977, but by then, even with Halifax Building Society and a young Son to support, we just about managed to afford our February 1976 built/May 1976 registered one-previous-owner Mark II RS2000. Used for a while as a daily driver and fitted at 16301 miles in June 1986 with what was believed to be one of the last (if not the last) fully-dressed genuine Fomoco Group One engines which had for a while been available as a dealer fit option, it remains unrestored and not only do we still have it, but also each other as well.

That's a great story, similar to mine! I purchased my current roadworthy Lancer Turbo a week before meeting my wife in 1999 . Still together , the 3 of us although we're now 4. Not sure which one gives me less grief!.I expect that that when the day comes you'll restore your beloved RS, just make sure you post pics for us to appreciate such a unique and iconic car!. Pardon my ignorance, but what did a "Group one fomoco engine" have by way of upgrades?.
The RS2 was one of my all time "misses". Back in the day when they were within grasp for reasonable money, I sadly didn't bother, but regret not doing so, along with missing out on 2.8 Injection Capris..
Awesome car, great story behind it as well.

Inspiring. As a young lad of 28 years, I hope to retain this, the car I picked up my (to be) wife in, at her work 2 years ago at the London museum of Water & Steam soon after we first met.. So a very short length of time by the standard of the OP and others.

One early 60's car owned by my father and now (for the last 15 years) by me since 1971, another early 60's since 1996, a mid 60's since 1986 and a late 80's since 1997, all on the road apart from the newest car which is currently being worked on for next year, I couldn't afford any of them now so lucky they were all bought when no one wanted them, lots of stuff I would like out there so one day I will have to make some decisions on if they stay or go (or if children have them to keep them in the family) the only reason they stay is that I can look after them all and not have to pay someone else to (unless it's really specialist work) will my Son or any of my nephews and nieces have these sorts of skills (or an interest in what will be nearly 80 year old cars by the time they are in their mid 20's), I guess time will tell.
