It was built for the tv show 'Curfew'. Sold for a £4800 bid wink manual gearbox and hydraulic handbrake (not sure how well that works with inboard brakes), and the side exhausts are fake.
Weird that the auction didn't mention that it had been a TV car, as they mentioned the stretch Mercedes that had been ZZ Top's car for a bit, and other cars that had been on TV (the XR3) and in magazines.

It looks from some of the images that my sarcastic comment about those riv-nuts being for riot shields wasn't far off.

No, I found that odd too. Though the auctioneer did mention make a bit of a joke about it being completely stock. It did have riot shields all the way around for the show but I don't think they come with it.

The ZZ top Merc didn't make very much and I saw it leaving (presumably with the vendor), didn't start very well. I don't think H&H was necessarily the right auction for the XJS.

Same car or same model, made in two halves and riveted together down the middle I believe, do I remember Wayne Carini selling one of these to a French company for use in a film?

A friend popped by with his little run around...

Looked great and the colour suits the car. Heard it coming up the road from some distance! PB Jnr2 declared it “way, way, way better than a Porsche!” She’ll be walking tomorrow biggrin

That looks a bit nicer than the one at H&H Buxton this afternoon.

The interior is nicer than the exterior, but I wonder why there are volt meter, rev counter and water temp gauges stuck on the top of the dash when all those are in the standard instruments. Inexplicably the body has many holes with riv-nuts inserted, around the windows. For fitting riot shields, perhaps. I forget what it sold for.

Spotted today in Tesco, Oban.
Can't remember the last time I saw a Bristol.
Actually I can, it was many years ago on the hard shoulder of (I think) the M74

Not sure if classic but it's a very rare vanback version.

Private ambulance from 'Inspector Montalbano'...? wink

Spotted in out town centre during the week, no photo unfortunately - a mid to late '60s MB Coupe similar to this one, same colour too....
