I read the plate before really noticing the car and my first thought was, 'That's not a Tatra!'

AFZ740 looked like a Bentley Blower number 9 replica in green bombing around. It comes back as a Trentley Sports on the Gov site, but I can’t seem to find anything about them…

No pics as he was cracking on. Any ideas ?

Lovely.
Is it on Rostyles though? Can't really tell for sure.

I'm tempted to say DB6 but the Touring badge over the Superleggera badge is limiting the size of my wager.

I'll qualify that. Superleggera in the Aston context was a link to Touring. But there was normally no Touring badge on the bonnet.

Calling any 60s Ford fans....

Not so much spotted, but I learned in conversation in the pub last evening that a gentleman I have known 30 years or so has a 1965 Mk1 Cortina. I went to have a shufti this morning but left my phone at home, so no photos at the moment.
I can go back and get pictures at some time.
He and his late father pushed it to the back of the shed at the farm sometime in the 70s and simply left it. His recollection is that it needed weld repairs to the front suspension top mounts (not unusual for a 'Tina) but at the time it was simpler or quicker or something just to put it away and replace it with something else.
So there it has sat to this day.
It's not a two door saloon which would be a real find. It's an estate car but it's complete and totally original and absolutely saveable. He was talking about scrapping it but I've convinced him to look for a good home for it.
I'd like it myself but living on a fairly slender pension the restoration would be a bit of a challenge financially to me, and anyway I liked Mk3s better TBH. And I anticipate that Mrs 404 might go like furious

PM me if you're interested.

PS: he also has an A55 Cambridge in very similar state which one of his sons started doing up but abandoned. Not my cup of rosie though.

I saw a Bangers For Cash episode recently about a bog standard Escort with a similar story.
Appears some buyers want the car exactly as it comes out of the shed - not even cleaned.
It went for several grand.

Good heavens, really? An Escort?
My friend was talking about giving the 'Tina away just to see it surviving. Good for him I say.
I hope the poor thing can be saved. But it's beyond my pocket (and marriage contract) I think. Although I'm starting to wonder about that...

There may be trouble ahead...

Nice, and refreshing to see an entirely relevant number plate with no attempt made to mis-represent it.
Hmmmm. A slight bit of extra space after the A but I ll give the owner the benefit of the doubt!

A and V do that. The spacing is based on the widest part of the letter, not on its aesthetics. A V12 *** is a good example.
