Monthly meet up at the Lakeland Motor Museum. Normally I can't make it because I'm at work, but I've been on holiday this week.

My mate would kill to get his stickies on that MK1 Granada lol.

It would go with his red MK2, but he has got out of doing what he did with that 25 years ago, hopefully lol, a Granada is the wrong car for a YB .

Anecdotally, it seems Vauxhall engines get put into a fair few non-GM classics. Why? Is it a particularly good engine or a particularly cheap engine or something else?

New format plate on that truck is a crime - silver/black is period correct, surely.

It's decent , tuable, one time cheap and plentiful.

I used 2.0 zetecs on standard management often in 60,s and 70,s Cars, a revelation in reliability.

On a budget build , use what we have, Sunbea Alpine series 5 bare shell, I used the chain drive 2.0 Dohc, Ford, but from an LDV van, with a turbo technics kit.

Going by the retro style mods, I'll take a punt and say that it has been resprayed

At that time, they were only available in red, black, white, brown, silver and grey.

According to the brochure, you could also get it in Tundra Green Metallic but I don't think this is it. It must have been quite the job to repaint a fibre glass car with that good a finish. Maybe it's a trick of the light and it's black metallic which as you say definitely was available?

Always an underrated car. I'd have gone for a 944 or Quattro in period but a V6 turbo looks like a fantastic classic proposition now

makes sense, I owned a black one V6 Turbo back then, can't remember seeing a brown one, maybe also pretty rare?

I had a burgundy one for a quarter of a century.

I think the green was darker and if I remember correctly, only came out with the A610?

i don't think it's a massive deal to respray fibreglass. TVR owners do it all the time.

Not a fan of the wheels either but maybe it's a get around if metric-sized tyres were originally specified?

I first saw one of these parked up near Aigue Mortes in 1986, I'll dig out the photos. Lovely looking thing in black and I've had a soft spot ever since.

Apologies for the quality of this picture...

...but it is the only shot I took of the rear of this 1.7 litre Ital estate.

There was a 'Morris Marina Owners Club and Ital Register' sticker on the rear window. It looks like it's in generally good shape, but there was condensation in a lot of the lights.

For sale here (with a set of dodgy alloys) a few years ago with only 8.5k miles

I'm not sure, but I believe maybe black was also a great 'undercoating' for some sorts green metallic? so maybe it was black, needed fresh paint so They sanded it black matte, then painted it over? Anyway, not a bad color.

That must be a load of fun!

I think that was the last generation of RWD Starlet. IIRC they were a popular choice for stock rod and hot rod racers on the ovals.
