Back in Damascus for the first time in a while

Landy. Or is it? Didn't get a close look but I saw something like this in the northwest last year and it was a slightly scaled down copy of the real thing.

The wheels look ridiculous.

I believe that Portugal had a Land Rover copy/rip-off in the 1980's, could be one of those?

Prominently displayed, for no immediately discernible reason, in a park in central Idleb, northwest Syria. Not many of these around here.
NomduJour identified it as an Iranian-built Morattab. That's probably what the black one is too.

They have that sort of thing in Saudi Arabia too don't they. Random stuff mounted on a roundabout. I must admit I quite liked it – "go down the Corniche and take the first exit at the roundabout with a ship on it"

I saw this Audi 100 today in Lanzarote. These were great cars back in the day and this one’s a Quattro no less.

Initially, I thought it had three-stud wheels but the spacing doesn't seem to support that, so not sure how many. Dash cowl looks unusual.

Santana started by assembling CKD Land Rovers with kits supplied from the UK. As time went on they began to differ from the original & had various improvements.
They are Spanish, I'd guess we are looking at one of those.

That's lovely. A couple of years ago I saw one of these for sale fitted with Fuchs alloys, and I rather regret not buying it. Space, funds, time and common sense always against me.

Couple of bargetastic 80s spots today. More appropriate here than the left to rot thread I think.

Pair of French fancies:

When was the last time you saw a Tagora? Possibly never!

Was pondering the other day Audi taking over NSU then taking a decade to improve on the Ro80.

I know you know your Audi's Rob so I'd not challenge that that is a 100 - the extra reflectors though were a feature only on the 200 as standard but people did fit them aftermarket on the 100.

The "Quattro" script picked out in the rear window heater element was always a geek spot back in the day!

Didn't the 100 CS and Sport have full width reflectors too?

In terms of impact and styling I'm not sure they ever have. It's mainly remembered for its smooth , but troublesome wankel power and clutchless gearchange. But its legacy is seen in almost every premium Greman car - that amazing styling . I drive one once and after Dad's Triumph Vitesse it was like a portal to the future

The Sport did, but it was all colour coded red. I also think the "Sport" was a UK only special edition to shift a few units before the new model came in

The 200 had the amber and red trim like the car in Rob's pic

Maybe Audi were more preoccupied with kicking VW into shape rather than them still spewing out more air cooled models that were well past their sell buy date? scratchchin

Yes, and done with a double element so it melts that part first.

These have both recently arrived in the country, they may have been previously but they're definitely not left to die at the moment. Although admittedly I think one might be a spares car for the other.
