Is it legal to have a dark tint front window in Arizona?
Probably not. But are you going to pick a fight with whoever owns this? Well are you, punk?

Certainly don t see many of these on the roads any more!!

Is that the Dave Mathewson from the TV show?
Yes

I don't know him name so it didn't register with me. This was in the depths of Cornwall!

It's certainly not the cleanest thing in the world but it seemed kitted up and ready to go!
I saw it during pre-auction viewing and it didn t look too bad. OK if you want to go historic rallying cheaply I guess smile
By chance I had to go to the shop where this is parked again today. I asked the guy inside about it, he said it s been parked there since Christmas. Had an issue with the radiator apparently and no idea when it will be running again. It was starting to look a bit sorry for itself, rust on the chrome, mould starting inside etc.

You can see how long it s been sat, there s a build up of gravel/sand under the wheels.

And a google today gives an advert that backs that up!

Sitting in traffic near Albert Park.

Spotted at the weekend - must be an import, locally built ones were RHD.

Another curiosity from our Japan trip; again not technically a classic, but this reminded me of the Wolseley Hornets relationship to the Austin Mini - take a Suburu mini van and try to make it look…. er….. upmarket.

I spotted this Cortina a few years ago street parked in Southwark. Pleased to have seen it again yesterday:

That's lovely! Looks like a GL.

Has he sandpapered half his bonnet or is it a trick of the light?

The light! Ironically I think the owner might be a decorator as last time I saw it the boot was fully of painting gear.

Spotted a pretty ropey looking Lancer Evo 3 earlier, rough as but still make me smile smile

Compact, restrained, no loud colours.....what's not to like? Seen in Scottsdale AZ

Just compare this joyous celebration of excess with the achingly sober Austin A55 rally car. I grew up in the early sixties and still shudder at the mind numbing , black and white parsimony of the pre Beatles era . Seeing an American car back then made my week immeasuarably better.

I’ve always liked these. Sat in one at a classic car show a few years ago, and it was surprisingly small almost cramped inside. They always seemed to be in the shadow of the Scimitar back in the day; presumably down to the difference in production numbers.

I worked with an old guy who had one - he was nearly as old then as I am now, well past normal retiring age. It never seemed to be on the road, he certainly never brought it to work. I asked, "What's it like?" He said, "Clunky." It didn't put me off, I just added it to my I'd Like One But I'll Probably Never Have One List, along with late 60s Marcos, Piper and TVR Tuscan.

Finally a Beetle in Clacton - assume late plate = Mexico import (did they make cabs there?):
