Lovely.
I ve always liked these. Sat in one at a classic car show a few years ago, and it was surprisingly small almost cramped inside. They always seemed to be in the shadow of the Scimitar back in the day; presumably down to the difference in production numbers.
I worked with an old guy who had one - he was nearly as old then as I am now, well past normal retiring age. It never seemed to be on the road, he certainly never brought it to work. I asked, "What's it like?" He said, "Clunky." It didn't put me off, I just added it to my I'd Like One But I'll Probably Never Have One List, along with late 60s Marcos, Piper and TVR Tuscan.
I love them. I have a soft spot for homespun British classics, with lots of Smiths clocks and toggles.

Peerless Warwick is a top favourite as well.

I spotted this Cortina a few years ago street parked in Southwark. Pleased to have seen it again yesterday:

Those little Japanesse vans are great.
My Dad had one. A 2.0 GL, very much like that one. BKD 844X I think.

Being a Y Reg, it will be one of the last Cortina’s made. Shame it’s not a Ghia that was really what you needed as the minimum spec.

Was having lunch on a patio in Scotsdale AZ today; lots of interesting cars rolling by but I was not really trying to to do pics when I was eating.

However, here are a few classics: (and maybe a future classic)

That 100/6 is rather nice. Looks like the rarer BN6 2-seater.

My dad worked for Ford at the Jersey Marine factory, Swansea. His clipboard had 'Cortina Hub Line' written in black marker pen on it. When I bought my first car, a 1982 Cortina 1.6L estate (Cardinal Red), I wondered if my dad might have been working a shift when its hubs came off the line. Sadly, my Cortina never made it to the days when it would be considered a classic. The scuttle rotted right through, along with the bulkhead above the driver's footwell. If I drove it in the rain, I got wet feet! I drilled a couple of holes in the floorpan to let the water out. Then, after I'd owned it for a year, I traded it in for a guaranteed £100 part exchange value (if it had even one day left on the MOT and it got to the garage under its own steam) and drove home in a nice 1988 Escort 1.6LX.

Spitalfields well photo'd Bentley (pics blurred as I removed a 207):

That Bentley is the EV converted one. Glad it is used, though.

Ah yes, the run-out model in association with the Daily Express (?): stripes and fancy paint, no?

I didn't know that.

The Minor cab that's parked a couple of spaces away was looking very rough.

I vaguely remember my dad briefly having a Crusader as a courtesy car, the badges were cool.

Dad had Mk2, Mk3 & Mk4 Cortina's as company cars - the last one was a red w/ black vinyl roof Mk4 that was written off outside our house in Billericay when a pissed bloke in an Escort crashed into it. My parents have some pics of it being towed away by a Land Rover recovery truck. That was probably 1980.

The last Dagenham built Cortina was retained for the Ford Heritage fleet.
A silver Crusader which was driven off the production line by the Chairman of Ford of Britain, Sam Toy.

Chrome bumpers on the single colour cars & black bumpers on the two tone ones.

I thought it was poor quality, only chose it because the ones taken in the factory were black and white !
