Sunny day, out on the bike and a walk around Laycock. This 1955 LR deserved a snap (possibly for the badly parked thread) it's always there somewhere near the pavement.

You meant nowhere near

Lovely day for Lacock. I'm not sure I've ever seen that Landy anywhere other than within the vague vicinity of that pavement, although it must move, since the distance to land varies!
On the A47 heading towards Leicester this afternoon and saw this in a lay-by so turned round and drove back to get these shots. It had broken down, so the owner (in the second pic) told me - the throttle cable had snapped. Never seen one on the road, so to speak, only at shows. He imported it during the COVID lockdown, he said.

Jam the throttle partially open with a fag packet and be on your way, people have no imagination these days!
lol
ah yes, totally forgot about those things like snapped throttle cables, or that, for example, the clamp bolt at the end of the cable fell off and you have always had a spare clamp bolt in your car since then.
Also with the same type of cars such as the Fiat X1/9 (owned 5 over time), the throttle cable at some point, had broken some wires at the unprotected part (by the carburator), then say because you drove full throttle for a short while, that part comes into the protected sleeve and then when the throttle was loosened, it gets stuck on the inside of the throttle cable sleeve, where the twisted spiral metal sleeve was and those few broken thin steel braided cable parts, get stuck in the inside and that kept running the engine at full throttle... not ideal...
But luckily (when finally got it to a safe stop without hurting the car and engine) also in the same type of cars as the Fiat With the Fiat X1/9, you also have a hand throttle controller on a separate cable, so I continued driving (slower) with it and of course replaced the throttle cable later.

Ah. I thought that might have been one of the two I saw coming into a car park in Caernafon in Sept 2020[/url]
Checked my photos and it wasn't! Lovely cars though.

UKFastback66 "Mate, is everything ok?"Alfaman "No, I'm about to have a terrible day"
UK66 "Too right. I'm going to post a pic of your car on PH and you're going to get an absolute shalakking for having silver on black plates"
Alfaman "Exactly, I knew it was a dumb move as I was screwing them on...."

I did think of mentioning the plates
I see those other two also suffer to the same degree!
Not what I would call suffering. I think they look far better with black and white/silver and personally I wouldn't be bothered about the legality or otherwise.I see those other two also suffer to the same degree!
also if you import a classic, you can ask for old style dark blue and white letters plates, if you do not or forget, you get the more modern yellow with black letters.
way better then the more modern yellow-ish with black letters on old cars at least (to my eyes)
