Taking a peak to see if anything's modified.

That's a minging looking MK1 Granada!

I've no idea how many MK1 and 2s I saw die in banger races in the late 80s/early 90s but that one definitely didn't deserve to survive. laugh
I think it looks quite cool now. If you ask people what a typical '80s car is they'll say GTi or 944 or XR3i, etc. But really we drove around in '70s cars like this.

The paintwork is nasty, the wheels are ste and the body kit is horrible. But apart from that...

It's period and very well done, that's what they were like at 5-10 years old and mildly barried, retro cool.

I've never seen a Mk1 Granada with a body kit.

I'm 52.

Really? People were rivetting body kits to all kinds of junk back in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Maybe it was a South Bristol thing. I wish I’d photographed it. Ashton Court Estate, Sunday afternoon - Max Power mayhem.

I’m with Doofus on this … don’t think the Granada was a desired thing in the late 80s and certainly not the 90s …

That's not entirely what I said. I said that specific example was horrible.

Yes and that’s a good thing I suppose.
As I’m sufficiently old, I can say that these weren’t exactly popular for modding, but there certainly were examples. There was one local to me for instance.

Black wheels, on the other hand, were rarely seen on anything.

There was a white one I used to see, with the whole spoiler/hoop aerial/air dam/Wolf Race combo. Almost certainly with furry dice, green sunstrip and STP stickers.

I'm quite interested in the whole modded cars scene, not because I like them but because I think they're interesting in a sort of vernacular art kinda way. The trends that come and go etc. There ought to be an organisation a bit like SPAB to ensure examples of these 'creations' are kept for posterity.

This well known ‘70’s survivor was resurrected from a garage near me a couple of years ago and is now back on the road!

No, I was with you on your comment of never having seen modded Granadas back in the day - I never did either. The words after that were my own opinion, sorry for the confusion.
