I wonder if in forty years from now anyone would be able to recognise vehicles in a car park full of dull boring lookalike SUV's in mostly the same two colours, white or grey? Hell, I don't even know, nor care, what they are now!

Wonder whether the granary survives. Lovely old building.
It seems that I was incorporated into a hotel, but there now seems to be a plan to convert it into flats (it’s the only surviving part of Bell’s Mills, Dean Village, where there are indeed a lot of lovely old buildings).

It had already become a car body shop by 1965. This photo features a couple more Renaults, among others.

This is how it looked in 2014, with said hotel alongside:

Thanks.

What dreadful architecture eek

I believe you've made contact with the striking surface of the simple timber fixing device.

And hat tip to OptionalExtra for my daily Renault 16 fix (overdose, more like) smile

Found these while pretending to work from home.

First is my dad on his honeymoon, dated 27 May 1967 and 14 months before I was born. This is Caernarfon, near the castle. May be some fun to be had spotting cars in the background. Father's car was a white Austin Mini Countryman, reg number unknown but it predated the "A"-suffix.

Second one (sorry it's a bit dodgy - badly degraded 120 print) features our Renault 16, CUN770L. This would have been late 1970s, location unknown but probably Snowdonia somewhere. We would have squeezed my grandparents into the car - no problem with the 16's front bench seat - and headed off for the day. My dad would have taken the pic, and that's a young Turbobanana perched on the bonnet. The 16 was dark blue with beige vinyl and was supremely comfortable and practical. I think my dad would have kept it forever but the chassis decided it wanted to be one with nature and it failed its MoT so was swapped for a nasty Morris Marina, in what would even then have been regarded as a backward move.

Turbo that reg plate would have been spaced differently nowadays.

Nice Wolseley 6/90 on the right
The owner splurged out on duo tone paintwork to make it look like a Riley Pathfinder..quite a rare option on the Wolseley.

How would that make it look like a Pathfinder..... they were all one colour.

Absolutely Mike, but bizarrely back then nobody saw it that way. Different mindset nowadays, and of course everyone looks for a profit now: see C124PPY reg number thread for evidence.

Recon it's a wolseley, as the Riley 2.6 (photo) has bigger bumpers and the pathfinder larger wheel trims[url]

Chrome trim down the front wing is a giveaway as well.

Not to mention the fact that Rileys had a different number plate light housing, incorporating the Riley diamond logo.

Speaking of which, I was slightly surprised that the DVLC let this one go out in 1978.

Quite a few more to be had in the photos below! - this old granary in Edinburgh seems to have been a body shop with a bit of a specialism in Renaults in the 60s and 70s.

4 here, pictured in 1970...

...including 2 early pre-facelift models

In the top photo the white R4 must have been virtually brand new and a long way from home - Orkney is one of the few authorities that never exhausted it's original 1903 two letter allocation. The last plate issued before suffix plates started on 1st January 1965 was BS 7777, so this must have been a late 64 registration.

Ferodo Factory, Caernarforn Feb 1985. The Montego must have been brand spanking new. Poor MG driver would probably need a whole can of WD40 to get the Midget going!

I think that's a 250PF. But who is the lady on the right?
