Not a Mk 1 Golf top left? Thought it was an Imp at first, but looks too big, and obviously isn't when zoomed in.

I think you're right. Trim above the number plate clinches it.

Great picture Dapster, is that a Fiat 131 Supermirafiori to the left of the Scimitar?
Yep, looks like a 131 Supermirafiori to me.
I remember the 131 supermirafiori very well indeed....! Not long after passing my test when I was 17 i borrowed my dad's T reg Estate one night with my girlfriend after dropping her off on my way home I rolled it down an embankment and wrote it off. ....rotatewobble I walked away with a headache...argue
Likewise my dad had a 131Supermirafiori saloon we kept for 5+ years, by when the tin worm had really got established. Good car to drive, even as an auto, and luxury velour seats. AKM875T.

I didn’t know the Super came in estate form - I thought that was the Mirafiori?

131 Mirafiori popped up for sale on my Facebook feed yesterday.
Looked like a bargain too.
Typically for Facebook I can’t find it now.

I wonder if it might be a 131 1300 rather than a supermirafiori. The rear screen trim looks chrome and I think the supermirafiori's had black surrounding trim. The wheels look narrower than the alloys from a super too.

Small world - I know where that (jet skiing) would've been.

Looks like a Peugeot 305 Estate behind the Golf and what a great looking car the Mk2 Granada was, especially in the "considerably richer than yaw" Ghia X trim which this one looks like it is. Essex royalty right there in the Range Rover!

Smal world indeed. I spent 5 happy years living 2 miles from there in Stock; great driving roads around there, brilliant village pubs, beautiful villages, fast train to London. What's not to like?

Looks like it.

Nice area - my Ford Friend lives just up the A12 near Witham and he would have been past here twice a day at 90mph (traffic allowing) in his XR4x4 cheap lease.

He’s now 10 years into retirement and still enjoying a dirt cheap lease car that’s replaced every six months. Only downside it has to be a Ford.

Still my stomping ground - the Rangies now outnumber everything else though.

Until fairly recently there was a Montego Countryman still operating as a minicab in nearby Chelmsford.

That pic was from one of my parents photo albums.

Growing up around here there were loads of people who had Ford deals - still have a couple of mates who benefit via family connections.

Enlighten me. What are the clues that suggest it's a Countryman? I like to think I know LM11's inside out and I'm not picking much up to suggest what specific derivative it is, other than an LX?

Countryman is just BL-speak for "estate", isn't it? The white Montego is clearly an estate version. Or is it a more precisely-defined model?

I think it is the roof rails.

My mum had a late model one, and it had more bits and pieces than this earlier one.
