Wellington NZ, outside Parliament 1965. I think that's a 62 Ford Galaxie, probably a government limo.
Nice pic, not that I recognise any of the cars there. That would have been pre Beehive or Bowen House. I used to have my lunch on that lawn about 3 years ago. I don't know if you still can, as a lot has happened since then.

Last I heard 1661 'North Star' resides on the West Somerset line, I used to drive it at Old Oak when it was 47 077 and like most of that batch of named 47s it was well looked after. Many a shed turn at OC was spent cleaning and polishing the nameplates on them to help pass the time between card games and pots of tea.
Recently repainted in BR blue as 47 077 (at West Somerset) and now on hire to NYMR.

Very smart, just as I remember it but without the '80s headlight on the front. My brother's mate owns 47 484 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel' although I'm not sure where it's being kept at the moment (it was another of our pet locos at Old Oak wink).

I thought first that it was a School, but I never got that familiar with SR locos.

The Schools were slightly shorter with only four coupled driving wheels wink

Back on topic, well almost - on the way home from work I spotted a 1970 / 71 Mini 1275GT in glorious BL Bronze Yellow which had the bottom six inches of the bodysides painted in black Hammerite, a real blast from the past hehe
Lovely colour, I got wind of it coming in the late 60s from my dad who worked at BL, he was good pals with one of the top sprayers in the paint shop who agreed to respray my then boring Loch Blue Imp bottom half in it. He resprayed the top half in another BL colour, Faun Brown.

This was the moment I sold that car waiting for the buyer to pick it up. I'd just bought the met. gold Sunbeam Imp Sport in front .

It didn't stay gold very long, the same paintshop guy resprayed it for me in BL Glacier White and Rootes Wardance Red. I've always liked cars being two-tone colours.

A few I found from my late father’s photo album.

I think think this is a Jaguar (any help with identification greatly appreciated).

Bond Mini Car. He had this whilst briefly living and working on the Isle of Wight I believe.

Sunbeam Alpine. This must be around 1966/67.

Probably a 1934 or 1935 SS2 1½-Litre (pre-SS Jaguar).

Guisborough used to be in the North Riding of Yorkshire, Durham was only North of the Tees. That was the olden days tho wink

I love this image of precision engineering, British-style. I note the large hammer on the table in case it doesn’t quite fit… (I know, he’s panel beating by eye).

Rather grainy shot of a passenger train making its way over the viaduct at Sandsend near Whitby on the Whitby-to-Loftus line. The line closed in 1958, and the Pop suggests it’s some time after 1953, by which time the Austin 16 (?) would be at least four or five years old. Sadly, the bridge has long since gone, though the station survives as a private residence with the coal drops used for garaging.
