This will be me retiring so nothing exotic or too expensive to run/ maintain.

1. I’ll be keeping the Caterham and it will move wherever I do.
2. I’ve always wanted an Alfasud Sprint - early one, steel bumpers and wheels, any engine will be fine.
3. Renaults have always appealed, as small as a 4 to as big as a 30, I’m just thinking wafty comfort on the road.
4. Panda (original version) 4x4.

I appear to have a soft spot for cars that are likely to be made of rust. It may take time to get there but it will be my retirement project so (hopefully) not too much of a hurry.

My Uncle had a Renault 16TX which I often travelled in, it’s got to be the most comfortable car I’ve ever sat in. It’s one thing the French car manufactures excelled at, sumptuous seats.

It's hard to narrow down the list of cars I want to just 4 but adding in the 'plausible' criteria makes it slightly easier. Some of my options may be considered more retro rather than classic, but here goes:

1. RX7 FD
Already own and can't see me selling it anytime soon. There's not an awful lot around that compares on price/performance/handling/styling if you can live with the reliability worries.

2. 240Z
It would likely be a US import that needs some work which provides the perfect opportunity for some resto-modding. I am slightly torn between this and a mk1 facelift capri (realistically a 3.0GT rather than a RS3100) due to the great memories of my father having one as his pride and joy when I was young, but the Z just pips it.

3. 80's/90's hot hatch
Ideally with rallying heritage. A 205 T16 would be the dream but not very plausible, so perhaps a R5 Turbo 2 or Delta Integrale. There are a few options so I would have to test drive some to see how they compare.

4. Volvo 850R
Sensible option for daily/dog duties. Can fit a lot of car parts in the boot which would surely come in handy with my other choices

I have just built a garage that will take 4 cars...

My current ideal:
Peugeot 205 GTI
Citroen DS or ID (not sure on exact model)
Something Zagato bodied: Fulvia Zagato most likely, but ideally something rarer
A pre-WW2 era car: Traction Avant? Or Austin 7.

If I had to pick just 4 cars (and I'm coming over all queasy and light headed at the thought) I'd go for:

Air cooled 911 (probably my 930)

BMW M5 (E39)

Porsche Boxser GTS (981)

Aston DBS (original) or Jensen interceptor, something like that.
