Don't ask me why I'd want to do this....

I have lifted many vehicles with fork lifts . You need extended forks and an extra large pallet .
If possible a pallet large enough to fit the vehicle on .
Make sure the parking brake is on and in gear . Best to strap it to the lifting points on top of the container .
Or contact the local scrap man to lift it with his hiab .
If you do it yourself I can guarantee that you will clench when lifting .
He will certainly unclench when lowering it if quicklyIf possible a pallet large enough to fit the vehicle on .

Thanks for all the suggestions - I've spoken with a local chap who has a couple of fork lift trucks - he apparently used to lift cars into shipping containers so has all the extenders needed too - they used old tyres and pallets between forks and chassis, also reckons they can lift 2.5 tonnes so I think it might work.
Now I just need to work out whether it's worth doing... if I do I'll make sure to post some pics
cheers

Telehandler, Manitou, Teleporter, JCB, Merlo, or several more makes. Every farmer seems to have one.
There's one stacking big square straw bales outside at the moment.
Fork extensions with blocks of wood to match the jacking points of the car.
PS
If you don't know a friendly farmer then try the blokes that remove cash machines from supermarket walls.
