So, made redundant two weeks ago and while I wait for interviews to be scheduled I've done about everything I want to do round the house etc and I'm seriously getting very bored. So, weather a bit crap, looking for console games to keep me amused.

Games I played and liked:
GTA
RDR2
Assetto Corsa (might get Grid when it comes out so that's driving games covered)
Elite Dangerous (on PC)
Firewatch
Mutant Year Zero - Road to Eden
Far Cry 5 and New Dawn

Also played Skyrim - Elder Scrolls V but didn't think much to it.

Games the kids have got already:
Minecraft
Fortnite
Fifa 20

Want "Last of Us" but looks like PS4 exclusive

Looking at Cuphead - any good?
Currently playing What's left of Edith Finch - loving it, anything else I should be looking at? Don't really fancy any Assassins Creed or Call of Duty style as I'm generally crap at combat and prefer something with a bit more depth. Also looking at No Mans Sky but the reviews put me off.

I’m really enjoying Human Fall Flat at the moment. Really simple idea but brilliant game play.

Get Xbox Games Pass and enjoy all the free games. Check out the Games Pass store on the Xbox dashboard to see if the games are to your taste.

Wreckfest is the first game I've picked up since GTA5, thoroughly good racing (banger racing)

If you get on the game pass I'd recommend Dead Cells and Oxenfree.

I've been playing through the recent Doom game and that's good fun in a super old school way.

Forza Horizon 4 is an amazing time sink, you can easily lose a few hours just rallying round the map.

If you like South Park, take a look at the Stick of Truth and The Fractured, But Whole games.
Easy to play, but many hours of play in them, with a RPG theme about it; plus the usual SP humour.
About £7 pre-owned from Game.

If you liked firewatch and are enjoying Finch, I'd recommend Life is Strange which should be dirt cheap - the prequel (Before the Storm) is worth it if you enjoy the original. Is Obra Dinn on xbox yet? If so I'd highly recommend that also. The Witness is a good puzzle game that just throws you straight into the game with zero explanation, so you just start working st out.

Some good ideas, didn't realise Game pass was so cheap so I'll have a look at that.

Played through Finch in one go, brilliant.

I'll lose the xbox to Fifa shortly when the kids get in from school so I'll have a go tomorrow.

Tried Fallout 4 about a year ago, did not like. Combat was ridiculously hard for me, got to a point about a quarter of the way in where I just couldn't progress.

Think game pass is the way to go, eldest off sick today so by the time I got to the xbox in early afternoon it had been taken, so I'll have to wait til Monday now.

I enjoyed The Division although it was a bit of a bullet sponge type game. Tempted to get the second one which is supposed to be better.

Haven't bought anything for ages as it's my son who mainly uses it but just got Red Dead Redemption 2 and so far enjoying it.

Got it from CEX for £25. Division 2 going for £18.

Game Pass Ultimate £1 for a month, sorted.

Human Fall Flat - people play this for fun? Put it down after 20 minutes getting frustrated with the controls.

Life is Strange - very good so far only an hour or so in.

I'm really on the fence about this one, I loved the first and second one so it should be a safe bet i'll like this one as I have heard it is really similar? But have heard some negative things too...can't make my mind up!

I loved 1 & 2, its a more polished version but has lost a little charm at the same time. The story is amusing and also terrible if you really think about it, think classic bond story.

Lots of time sunk into it by myself so far, and liking the subtle changes they have made to gun brands and rewards to vary your play styles... & some useful additions (lost loot crate etc)

Did you use VATS? Where you 'Stop' time and target using that and action points. As a raw FPS it can be extremely fast paced without using that, you need to use both the RPG skills & FPS bits to really make it work well together.
