Got a chip in the screen on the GTS low down near the wipers yesterday evening
This morning it's a large crack heading towards the drivers side so screen needs replacing.
Are the usual suspects like Auto-glass ok to deal with this, I know with my TVR and Aston they are the last place to go. But LV my insurer want another £200 excess to take it somewhere other than their recommended repairer. Haven't rang it through yet so not sure who they use at this point.
Appreciate anyone's experience of similar
Cheers

Make sure it's a proper Porsche screen if only for warranty purposes.

Thus is useful

A lot depends if the cars over 3 years old or not in the small print.

if it is over, you might just be best to pay for a new one at an OPC and not make a claim at all.

if under you should be able to get a oem branded screen at no extra cost.

as with all insurance it will go up if you claim. so it might well be better to get it done at an OPC and just pay.

Thanks for the comments
Car is still under 3 years old
Spoke to AG and they are going to source the OEM part and it will be done at one of their centres. Also the cameras need to be re calibrated which they can only do (so they said) at a centre.
I am also looking to extend the warranty with Porsche so don't want any wriggle room on anything if possible.
I haven't booked it all in yet so lets see what they come back with on the OEM screen.
Will post an update.
Have to say I have had mixed experiences with AG over the years, some of the fitters are very good and experienced, but I did have one turn up to sort the rear door glass on my S8 (which is laminated) a couple of years back who hadn't a clue how the glass came out so I sent him packing. After a debate with insurance company I was allowed to take it to the main dealer.
Thanks for the quick replies smile

AG have done my last 3 screens but at an OPC site. but yes some fitters are poor, they are in high demand to meet wages so a long job = less money in their pockets. Porsche OPC paid in full for my last one as they chipped it on a test drive(luck yI had photos of my car as they tried to palm off a smart repair In the A line !!! ) I demanded a new screen from the DP , I paid in full for the one before, so not made a claim although I did manage to claim the full cost back wit ha fight in the end.

IF you make a claim it's just best to switch companies next time as they will recoop costs back.

Quick update
Screen was replaced on Friday at an autoglass centre. Genuine part used as I specifically requested it.
Chaps doing the work were both experienced fitters I spoke at length before handing over the car and felt comfortable they knew what they were doing. Job took around two hours and the cameras were also reset.
Pleased to report no issues or damage. I was worried as the Cayenne has lashing of alcantara and leather on the dash and pillars. He also-refitted the power wire for the dash cam behind the trim.
Been an expensive week, took her into Porsche for a winter check and extended the warranty for two years also fitted four new Yoko’s as “winter is coming” and mine were getting low on tread. Had a four wheel alignment done too and she drives superb now. The Porsche centre were spot on and very helpful, near enough matching the price of the best deal I could get on the Tyres.
Thanks for all the advice

Glassman fitted am OEM replacement screen screen to my Macan Turbo PP recently (high spec car so has the cameras/sensors mentioned above). Would 100% recommend him. I was referred to him after posting a similar thread in a regional forum.

My OPC sub-contracts and in an hour away so having someone who would come to my home was very helpful.

Just a satisfied customer !
