Well after almost 5 months to the day I have finally received the long awaited fuel tank to finish the car.

So full steam ahead, out with the old tank which I recon could have only held about 3 gallons maybe a bit more, and in with the new, need to sort another support bracket and then sort fuel system ....

its the nearest I can get to the original car, would love more rim width but more rim equals more wheelarch and if I go any more the car will be wider than it is long :-) lol
Those wheels are stunning, well played. Do you mind me asking what they are?

Hi, sorry for delay, they are Lenso (BBS style) but with the silly plastic center lock centres taken off but also the wheel centres removed on a lathe

No worries at all, thanks for replying.

They look nicer the way you have them for sure. That style of wheel was used on the early supertouring Cavaliers and I've been pondering a set for a while.

So - tank is now fitted and new fuel pump and plumbing sorted.
Which now means I can finally fit the refurbed subframe and all the suspension and new brakes.
Have started the car and all is normal as before.
I am tied up last few days and the next but I recon middle of next week and I should be driving it round the block ......

Would have been ready months ago if I hadn’t been messed around with the fuel tank

So, she’s finally back on her feet, had to spend a few hours adjusting the ride height but it’s basically there now, fitted fuel pump mount, and have driven round the block a couple of times.
I’m not happy with the brakes currently as it has one of those line lock things fitted which I’m not 100% sure how they work but brakes are binding and then if you leave the car a while they free themselves but the pedal then goes to the floor ...... tomorrow’s job.
A few photos below to keep you all going

Might be an idea to put a big of heat wrap around the fuel pipe where its nearest the water hose
just to avoid issues.

At least you got to drive it round the block, shows you are 99% of the way there..

Fitted the harness yesterday ready for track use if I get chance this year as I’m also in the process of moving house.
I have also now insured the car so can at least run it up the road to test little bits.
Brakes are now a lot better but need further fiddling.
Gear linkage needed adjustment but again now seems fine.
I have Neil from Slowboy racing here tomorrow to fit adjustable ecu and a mild map.

Little bit more progress to report but I am busy moving home presently so car has had to take second place for the minute.

I have now had a programmable ecu fitted (or the original adapted) so we can see exactly what’s going on but also allow for tuning in the future.

I am still hopeful to get at least one track day in this year as a shakedown test so we at least know what we have, will report back as and when.

Have some mirrors to fit .....

So ..... rear view and period style door mirrors fitted.

The pedals and pedal box on the car are not what I would have chosen and the pedals have broken very easily so made some steel replacements ....

Still hopeful to get on track at Brands Hatch but the days are either fully booked or it’s raining so slowly running out of time now.

Well a disastrous year for the cars but at least we have our health, still waiting to get the car out on track but its not going to happen anytime soon.
On a positive note I have moved home and all the toys will eventually be in one place.
For the first time ever both cars are now standing side by side in the garage, I hope to get a few outside photos in next couple of days as I want to take the original car off the trailer to sell that trailer and buy one that will fit all the cars, the trailer I have was a modified Smart trailer customised to fit inside a std single garage, I no longer have that restriction or need so a proper full size trailer will replace.

Only picture I have currently below .....
