That's lovely. smile

I nearly bought a peppermint coloured 1800 model, but at 19 years of age the pull of a Rover 3550S was too strong - and for some reason it was cheaper to insure than the Fiat. confused

Gorgeous, I used to own one of these, with the better looking front end that yours has. Such sweet little things, though I will never forget just how much the steering wheel flexes biglaugh

A friend had one of these in silver when we were at college in the late 80s. I'm sure he paid about £100 for it although it wasn't in such good condition as this one!
From memory the instruments were fascinating to someone brought up on a diet of British Leyland products.

I'm only slightly biased but after looking at images of both the earlier and later series' of these I also like the front of mine the most .
Tell me that it does not look like a Fiat Dino coupe from the front !

Mine has a wooden steering wheel , wasn't sure if I would like it but it seems okay ,not too big and it's okay in use .
No power steering ,oh the horror .....175/70 13 tyres . biglaugh

They look good, not sure about the color for such model though.

btw it does reminds me a bit of my old Phoenixyellow metallic M coupe S54, of course in real life a complete different color, but hey.

My 1962 Land Rover Series 2a. Owned for the best part of a decade now, we used to use it as a working vehicle. It's now gradually undergoing a rolling restoration, I've toyed with the idea of starting a Reader's Cars thread but it's a bit niche, dull and somewhat anal.

The restoration is getting quite in-depth in places, but to me it's quite important as it's more than just a car/truck to me.

You're right there is definitely a similarity to the Dino. Lovely things. Mine had the big original wheel (good for no power steering), and I did enjoy it. They're great little cars, perfect for a nice sunny day.

The best kind! Get a thread going for sure!

My daily classic. Owned for 29 years from new by Dad and then passed onto me. Just 100,000 miles from new and the leather inside is completely unmarked. Only thing I’ve done is change the alloys, I’ve still got the originals in the garage. It gets more attention than my Nissan GTR did !

Sadly not, just senile typo!

I saw that Fiat at the PHSS last Sunday and it really stood out. Lovely car, although I'd want RHD unless I was planning loads of Euro Trips.

That's in superb condition and is a lovely colour. I have a car owned by my dad as well, a Jaguar. It has done a similar number of miles to your Mercedes.

While mine is never laid up over the winter, it mainly only comes out for shows and meets so it'll hopefully be getting more frequent use from around about now!

Very good. I'm seeing a few vans and pickups of this ilk now. Are they quite cheap to insure? Most seem to be with younger owners.

Vans and trucks have always been popular with all ages, they hit classic status and higher value long before cars.

Its the nature of being working vehicles, they go off the road quicker than cars, therefore there are few to be seen in good condition.

Just look at MK6 Escorts , the cars have little value or interest, but good vans are a different story. Not super valuable but more so than the cars.

Try finding a nice 80,s or 90,s Transit for under 10k.

I saw plenty of this type of vehicle working for a living while travelling around Egypt, carrying some big bulk and weight.
I wondered how that little petrol was coping, got up close though, to find they came new with 2.5 Turbo diesels.

Been trying to add a classic van to the fleet, ULEZ is a hinderence and so is the value of good ones.

Sorry I should have been clearer, I specifically meant the Japanese (or similar) small vans and pickups, modified with wide alloys and arch extensions etc. I know it's not a new thing as such, but I've seen more in the last 5 or so years than the preceding 25.

On the matter of foglights, the earliest cars had none, the later early cars had them slightly inboard, and the facelift cars had the foglights integrated in the tail light cluster and outboard reflectors. So yours has a mix from 2 generations!
