Which attainable car from your youth would you still like?

I was going to say an E30 BMW 325i Sport M-Tech II, but they're silly money now. In terms of pure numbers I can afford one, to fulfil the "attainable" criteria, but I wouldn't pay it.
I am currently have the same thoughts.....I really don't want to pay £8-10k for a 205 GTi, but I'm considering dropping fairly decent money on one with a view that over the next 3-5 years, it is almost certainly going to appreciate more than my savings.....plus it'll be more fun that looking at some stagnant numbers on a banking website. The same would be the case with a 325i right?I'd love another Mk1 Cortina GT, a 4 door in ermine white with red interior and 5 1/2 Js. Even better if it was an export with the Super trim.
I had an Export '66 back in the mid-nineties when it was already nearly 30 years old. It was stolen from Brighton station and I've missed it ever since. I just can't pay over double what a V8 Mustang coupe costs though.....that's daft!
A Bedford HA van also has masses of appeal but they're rare and, again, too expensive for me to justify for something good.

The spec I can still reel off for you: Classic struts and discs, 5 1/2 Js, 1650 pushrod - or a Lotus Twin Cam! - with a bullet box from a 2000E.
Sounds like the spec of my dad's Mk 1 Cortina GT, aside from 1560 pushrod on twin 40 Webers in his vs. your 1650 I'd still be happy with a 'hotted up' Austin A35 although no fking way would I go as far as I have done with my car.
A Mk 1 Jaguar 3.4 saloon with a Mk 2 back axle, triple 2" SU head and 4 speed close ratio would do nicely for me

My old ur-Q
I'd probably find it really annoying, lots of drive line shunt, turbo lag measured in millennia.
I loved it then. Driving anywhere was an event, I'm sure that would be more so nowadays.

This very car was unattainable when I first encounted it in the 1980s, but by a stroke of luck I had the opportunity to buy it twenty years later
