Which attainable car from your youth would you still like?

Nice Really good ones were sub 3k mid 80s
Friend’s RS1800 was around 5k at that time
Raced over there from Bristol the next morning for 9.00am (bought the paper the evening before and didn't bother waiting until they opened before checking, such was my haste to bag a bargain) and there amongst the Sierra 1.6Ls and Nova 1200s and other shopping car fodder was a perfect red RS2000 Custom. The only downside it was actually £2895.00 . Left disappointed, I didn't have 2895 and it wasn't much of a bargain anyway.
Bought a Mk1 RS2000 a few months later for £1500
£2895 in 1989 is about £6400 now. I'll readily drive to Pontypridd tonight if there are any there in the same nick for that now

A Sierra Cosworth. Although I wouldn't say they are attainable now . Fortunately bought one 10yrs ago, when I could afford one!
Yes, I meant 'attainable at the time of your youth' but it sounded stuffy and it was too long for the title.I'd like to add Gilbern Invader to my list. Also not BMC you'll notice.

A hotted-up Anglia for me, please.
I won't do it, but I like the fact that it still intrigues me.
The spec I can still reel off for you: Classic struts and discs, 5 1/2 Js, 1650 pushrod - or a Lotus Twin Cam! - with a bullet box from a 2000E.
I even enjoyed typing the words.
Marvellous.

My 105e from my heady ‘70’s college days: 1760 big-valve Lotus TC, twin 45s, 200E ‘box, Classic Capri front struts with uprated inserts, turreted Bilsteins at the rear, English axle, quick rack, full cage, buckets, harnesses, seam welded shell, fireproofed rear bulkhead, Cibies, Lotus steels etc.
Happy (boy racer) days
I'm amazed you wrangled 1760 out of a 1558. Collectively we seem to be looking back fondly at those days.
There was one at a Goodwood Breakfast Club in the paddock. I took quite a few pics. I'll post some when I remember how my filing system works.
Sold a twin choke Weber from a Cooper S to a bloke with an early Escort. He asked for his money back when the car didn't run right and his mate told him it was probably jetted wrong. A little knowledge and all that.
Thanks for that
Although it was a bit of a handful in town (very ‘cammy’ and the Webers regularly needed fettling/balancing), it was great on rural Gloucestershire roads. It’s one of the few cars I really regret selling. The engine was allegedly a Vegantune, but I was doubtful as it didn’t feature their cam cover and the build sheet made no mention. I know that boring to 1760 resulted in very thin cylinder walls, but it was a strong engine. It was certainly quicker than the standard TC engine the car had for a while after the crossflow it came with died, so it could well have been a 1760. I can’t remember the name of the engine builder, but he was well known in the area back in the day.
Usual easier route to a 1760TC is to use the 711M x-flow tall block with spacer etc.

Well back in my youth I was a proper Ford fanboy so I guess a few of the fast Ford gems of that era, s1 RS turbo absolutely loved that car , sapphire RS cosworth , mk2 fiesta xr2 , v6 24v cosworth xr4x4 massively modified, mk1 fiesta super sport , that’s some of the fords I’ve owned, I did quite like my cavalier Sri 130 it seemed a rocket ship back in the day . What else golf vr6 was pretty good , if a bit front heavy !
