I recently entered a bid of £2k for a car and it finished at £10k.

Its all a mystery to me.

speaking of XJS thoughts on this? I've always wanted one - but what lurks beneath?

1976 motor will need going through completely, and not just the bodywork.... their was a lovely 1977 white XJ-S just like this at the South side hustle this weekend, but on closer inspection, the panel fit was horrendous, obviously loads of filler. Tread carefully mate but go and take a look if your are interested... these are money pits, even when they are good!

Ask yourself....if I strip that to a bare shell and dip it in acid what's coming out?

(I think we can all see the answer)

A world of pain and misery laugh

An advert for an XJS without close up photos of the base of the rear window, valances, boot floor etc, suggest its probably rotten in all the usual spots. Worth a look though....

fair enough - I went to see a 924 at the weekend that looked fab in the photos but as Mrs WJS68 remarked as we departed 'well it's a cheap Porsche and it looked like a cheap Porsche'....

as pointed out - cheap for a reason.

Ticket expired Dec 2020! And a previous fail was for rotten floors!

That does look ok, but clearly not ready to drive 300 miles south.

3000 miles to Portsmouth at £2/mile is £600, plus £200 for Tow Truck Tony to got over to Portsmouth to get it, so £800 to get it to me, this demonstrates very well why a running and driving car is a better proposition for me.

I'm thinking had I bought one of these instead of my series 1 then I would be 10 grand richer!

I like it. I am a sucker for a pillarless coupe - I've had 3 (BMW 840, Mercedes 250CE and 280SLC)

Not much tbh.

You need to start looking at cars in person.

Yes, I do, gotta get this boat finshed and launched and a summer gap in kids football will free up some time.

That's worth a look. HP is a Coventry plate so may have been a management car at Browns Lane.
