Huntsman’s Sovereign has had a price drop …

Here
That's a very interesting price point, much closer to what I want to pay for one, albeit I'm not keen on the interior.

Despite growing up with Jags, and my dad having an XJ-S I'd never been in an E-Type until yesterday.

Box now ticked. A mate brought his '67 FHC round (fully restored, former California car, now RHD) & took me for a blast - although a very busy Chelmsford wasn't ideal territory.

What a car.

Fantastic place to be & the view over the bonnet is so cool.

Imagine the effect in 1961.

A couple of photos of my 1961 roadster which I have owned and cherished for forty years now. The first is after her first rebuild at Donington 1991 for the 30th anniversary event. We have travelled far and wide, over 150,000 miles now, from Norway to Morocco and in between Croatia and Bosnia. This was at Donington for the 1000 E-type meet

And this was in France for the 60th anniversary meet in 2021. Rebuilt in 2014 and now in the colour scheme as she was when she came out of the factory in September 1961:-

That's a lovely E-Type Lowdrag, I wish i could afford one! I've always wondered why the front track was so narrow on them though, It does look a bit odd IMO. The MK1 Jag had a narrow rear track and the E-Type a narrow front track. I'm suprised that it didn't jump out at the design stage?

I did but my reply was very long winded and boring as i had consumed quite a few beers so i deleted it! smile If you go back to page 78 there is quite a bit of info and pics of the old '2.8 crab' (As i like to call it!) As well as my MK2, If you need to know anything more give me a shout.

Thanks klunk. I’m an Ocado man myself.

How about this plate I saw in our village earlier - had to get a pic …

Made an offer on this earlier , I had looked at Martin Daly"s car but felt it was a lot of money

It's an interesting comparison though I guess most of you will gravitate towards the earlier car .

I was a passenger in that car for the Welsh trip mentioned in the advert - it is a very nice car.

Looks a lovely car but has a poor MOT history.

among other things it failed on structural corrosion in 2023 and also with an advisory on corroded rear coil springs. Assuming the mileage is correct perhaps it's been badly stored at some time.

The vendor mentions replacing the springs and rust proofing the underside. Hopefully he also has details of the repairs.

this is absolutely pristine - but what would you do with it?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/306288467920?itmmeta=01...

I'd be scared to even cough near it - not because of the value (£45k is a lot of money for an XJ6 but not in the grand scheme of things - that's the price of fairly standard family car these days...) but how would you feel if you were the one to damage it....

This ebay seller had a pristine dark red Mark X that was up for £45,000 for seemingly a year or more. In the end it went to auction and didn't make half that. I would not be surprised if this lovely looking thing went the same way.

The main issue is as soon as you put some miles on it the value would plummet, so it may end up just being an expensive ornament!
