Why not being driven? Been laid up a bit too long to be confident?
Exactly that - had an all too real experience last Saturday on the way to Auto Italia at Brooklands in a friend's recently purchased Fulvia 1600 HF that has done very little mileage in the last few years other than short local trips. We broke down on the North Circular but got it going again only to then break down again a few miles from Brooklands, and this time it was properly dead. Once HJC arrives my local garage will give it a comprehensive going over - they're old school mechanics that I've used for years and there's always a classic or two kicking around.

Exactly thatHere we are 2 years later with no fuel tank....
Getting them actually working and right is a long slog.
And I've ended up with a nearly working car that's falling apart.
But... I love that car, its a magic carpet and so simple, I'm gonna be buried in it, so far I'm £8k in the hole, so not big money in the grand scheme of motoring.

My experience with the P6 Estate and trying to put it into daily service. I only came to a stop twice and it took three visits with a list for the Classic Car garage.

No idea how much I'm in for the Jag - nothing much in recent years but plenty in the early days - I hung onto it partly because I thought values would eventually rise and I'd see some of it back. I gave up on that many moons ago and now it's just pure nostalgia....we'll see how I feel in 6 months.
At least they can spell "sought after"
One of my favourite and regular tags in an add, usually one exclusively in block capital is;
SORT AFTER
Perhaps followed by RARE
Then if it's an eBay listing you can look at all of the sellers other listings to confirm that by chance all of the items that they have for sale are RARE

To be honest, if I try to do this again, ie a long rested car back into daily service, I'd go big early. All the calipers, flexis, masters, slaves, rad, hoses, tanks, belts, fluids, fuel pump, fuel hoses, all the ignition stuff as a minimum. Probably water pump, alternator and starter. No idea how much I'm in for the Jag - nothing much in recent years but plenty in the early days - I hung onto it partly because I thought values would eventually rise and I'd see some of it back. Get the car up on a ramp, wheels off and hit it hard.

I'm planning on looking at a car at auction in a few weeks, S1 Daimler, little used for 10 years, I suspect the tanks are shagged inside, just because its likely. They are £750 a pair for new ones. Ouch.
The blue one? If so there's also a quite tired Daimler Double-Six Vanden Plas series 2 - estimate looks a but toppy to me. A tidy looking S1 V12 VDP here, It runs sweet, It will be interesting to see what ££ it makes.

First series 1 I looked at was a Vanden Plas in silver with a red vinyl roof and red leather - it was actually a 4.2 so quite rare apparently. Owned by a Fleet Street journalist if I remember correctly - suspect it must have been this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335952216450?itmmeta=01...

Another ebay seller with a couple of nice cars ...
Daimler V12 with red interior
Daimler in a nice colour
I would imagine that the Red interior divides opinion. Personally I love it, although I’m not sure it’s best suited to this exterior colour. Red interiors tend to work better with black, white or silver paintwork. Daimler V12 with red interior

The juniper green is lovely.

It was in the recent H&H auction at Duxford, but didn’t sell by the looks of it. Wonder whether the seller is the one that put it in the auction or someone who has since bought it?https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1971-jaguar...
