Lovely looking car.

And a very interesting house opposite in the first shot.

This might be alright for £2500:

Some iffy cosmetic add ons but if its sound and mec hanically good, it's worth a punt.
Were these really still on carbs in 1986?
I’m fairly sure they were injected. The 3.4 actually goes a lot better than you’d think. The colour would be far from my first choice, but I’m sure others would like it. Webasto sunroofs are also highly divisive.
SU HIF's until the very end.

A good 3.4 goes okay, 160 bhp, shorter gearing and decent torque. The 3.4 is a sweeter engine as well.

at 20 paces - quite a bit of microblistering and spiderwebs - really needs a respray (last one was twenty years ago).

that said I'm pleased with my decision to bring HJC home - I had contemplated just letting it go but even if I eventually do I'm going to enjoy the summer.

drew lots of admiring comments last night - never had that in the beige brick (VW T25)!!!

Thank you

There are 6 of the houses (three symmetrical pairs in fact) - apparently built by a developer for himself and his 5 daughters in the late 1800's,they are quite quirky compared to the rest of the street which are traditional late Victorian.

I recall being told that the early XJ6's in silver had paint issues and most were recalled to be re-painted white, hence the reason there are relatively few around. Whether that is true or not I have no idea, could have been a sales pitch to lure me in. Worked.

A cheap Daimler 4.2 S3, No keys or paperwork, I've seen a lot worse for more money, The front and rear screen rot appears to be in early stages so could be caught! A bit of damage to the N/S/F wing, Apart from that it looks un molested and dead straight for that sort of money, If i was after an S3 i would be going to view that at that price!

I love the model and colour combination. I’m sure someone will make it a really great car.

Wouldn't surprise me, as a lot of UK manufacturers in that era had similar problems with silver paint.

To be honest, if I try to do this again, ie a long rested car back into daily service, I'd go big early. All the calipers, flexis, masters, slaves, rad, hoses, tanks, belts, fluids, fuel pump, fuel hoses, all the ignition stuff as a minimum. Probably water pump, alternator and starter.

Get the car up on a ramp, wheels off and hit it hard.
Core plugs too. Missed coolant changes lead to failing core plugs and there's one on the bqck of the block.
