^^^^^^^E reg Capri 2.8i -very very rare one of the last - as vast majority most were 280s.
This makes it only 3x E reg Capri 2.8i i know of - prob a few more out there
Nimbus grey iirc lovely colour and rare-ish
There's an E reg 2.8i on Autotrader for £~3k?

Can't be too rare.

Edit: infact theres quite a few.

2 on there is all i could find- in fact i'm surprised there are even 2 and i did say "prob a few more out there"
In fact according to DVLA 2010 records(older records would be more helpful) only six 2.8 Specials were registered new in 1988 -that does seem even far lower than i expected but the rest of years (297 in 1987) and Brooklands figures (60 in 1988 - 10 times as many) seem to tally.

I nearly bought an E-reg white 2.8i (replacement for my lovely 2.0 Laser) but alas didn't. That was in 1995. Spotted it a few years later looking lovely.

nononono

sorry the op is right ,

The last Capris were all 280s ( Brooklands named after the green colour they all were painted in ) they came out on a D or E suffix
to find a 2.8i Special on an E plate is a very rare site in fact the only way it could happen is if it was lounging unregistered in the back of a dealers ? As otherwise it would simply have been a 280

I used to own a 2.8i Special in the same colour scheme

Now if you want a really rare car , there is a 1987 280 capri that has never been registered !!
with just delivery milaeage its turned up at a few Ford shows

I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few 2.8i Capris' sat around at the dealerships unregistered at the time TBH.

No disrespect but by 1986/1987 the Capri was a bit old hat and had a Brut 33/ "The Professionals" image (don't get Me wrong, I've always liked them but then again I quite liked Brut 33 and "The Professionals" as well!)

You can sum it up by the fact that the Capri was using a 2792 cc engine to get 158 BHP when BMW were already getting 168 BHP from a 2494 cc, basically the Capri had in reality had it's day (it had already disappeared in the rest of the world a couple of years earlier).

This is amazing as I thought all of these had been manufactured by Vauxhall to be ferrous oxide after 6 years.

However, what about the white Vee Dubb Karmann Ghia in front of it?

I used to sell these when they were new. Believe me there is no such thing as a lovely TVR 280 - especially of that vintage.

Ah, finally a voice of reason! We do tend to look at these older cars with rose-tinted spectacles, don't we? A lovely this, a lovely that. They look nice now providing you don't have to use them every day, when it's five degrees and the heater doesn't work and you can't pull skin off a rice pudding. It's just reality. I'm sure we all have horror stories about the cars that we now think are 'nice.' I have to say that every time I find myself saying 'a nice TR4' or whatever, I have to check myself in remembering my girlfriend's ghastly rattly old thing. We took my Triumph Herald to the South of France in preference to that. But there's another story...
