Great vid, but you'd think Overfinch would actually watch it and see that it goes up to '92, so can't be a 1989 archive!

I was not feeling well last night so sat down to watch a bit of classic TV. The 1st episode of Randall & Hopkirk deceased on True Entertainment
http://www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/f6m5v5/ra...

I was going to say lots of classic cars but actually the streets were almost empty. Not sure how they got on back in those days following a villain when there is only one other car to be seen anywhere. And finally a room in a london "Hotel" 2 quid a night cash in advance.
I love watching R&H every now and then. Its like stepping into a time machine to my early childhood, both in the childish simplicity of the storylines that were once regarded as entertainment, and of course the streetscapes. It can make you feel a bit old.

My Dad pushing my '72 F400 back in 1980 after the water pump housing rotted out and pumped water into the sump.. Great car, really, really, fast, just don't ask me to stop or turn!

My 1964 Capri with 1600E motor, 2000E gearbox, Cortina Lotus seats, 4.4 Anglia van diff, Reliant Scimitar windscreen and 14" of rear rubber that fitted under the rear wings on a stock axle with no flares! No paint, just total coverage of royal blue 1/64"sq Glowble metalflake and tons of lacquer (unsanded in the pic).

Brilliant biggrin

4.4 diff must have been hysterical.......what did that give, 75mph flat out??

I broke the original 3.7 diff trying to do burnouts and went to the breakers and found an Anglia van on the pile at a workable height so I took the diff. I had no idea that a low powered 997 van would need a low diff to haul stuff, but it fitted anyway, and yes the engine was screaming at 70mph, 1st gear was almost useless, and it ran hot and guzzled petrol down the 28/36 Weber, but the acceleration was really brisk and burnouts were easy (not much smoke, but lots of long black lines)

Great and noisy fun.. The wee label at the bottom of the pic says "Clandestine Racing Champion 1976". My mate had an emerald green metalflake Hillman Minx with an Essex V6 fitted. we were always racing each other, ..great days, simple cars. and cheap parts from the local breakers..

I hate crosswords, but love stuff like this!

That guy with 'school' tie looks like he's thinking 'Who do ya think you're lookin' at?'
And why is (sign?) roundel blacked out?

Anyway, giveaway in that pic (I think I'm right - but like everybody, sometimes I'm wrong wink ) tells me that is Hylton Street, Hockley.
And nope, I'm not a Brummie.

Bumper to bumper parked cars tells me many of those must be workers from the factory at the end of the road.
Moggies, Austins or variants, and lots of Fords inc Anglia Estate, a solitary Austin Seven (Mini) but not one Imp - my guess is 1961.
Individual actual cars, someone else can do that! smile

Got to be later than '61 with that Mk1 Cortina estate clearly visible.

Just spotted another Mk1 Mini, pale colour, probably Old English white or tudor grey at the far end poking its cheeky little bum out.

It is actually listed as Hockley Street, Birmingham in 1965. Well done though dandarez.

I always thought the sporty Novas were smart as carrot. I knew they would have their day once the barryboys had finished with them. Expensive for a good one now.

Nah. I did think it was at first, but the rear window hinges are wrong and roof side is wrong.

I think.

Looks like a fairly big estate car; think it has three windows on the side, and it's bigger than the Ford (Thames or Escort?) van behind it.

I was thinking Super Minx estate, but the shape isn't quite right.

Yep, I agree, the top hinged rear glass looks like the Farina style split tailgate detail.
