Well this is an accident pic, but no one died, not even the car.

A Police Ford Zephyr Mk2 Farnham Estate - was rear ended by an arctic whist in action on M1.

Was rebuilt, and now lives in the Ford Heritage collection.

^^^^^^ The phrase "that'll buff out" was meant for these two pictures.

I didn't have a camera with me when I saw this and so went to the nearest newsagent and bought a cardboard disposable 'camera'.

Can we not have pictures of car crashes please. Its likely people died in those.
I'm surprised by your response. You certainly would not like Carambolage by Arnold Odermatt. The book is by an award winning Swiss police photographer. None of the pictures in the book show bodies or body parts but they do show the aftermath of some terrible accidents. To me they are both fascinating and also poignant.

What I've noticed recently, every clip of the early to mid '70s that contains traffic scenes, there are Citroen GSs in them.

My dad had two from '72-'79, but I can't remember seeing them as much as I do in the old clips on the telly.

In amongst all the British cars and that Renault 4 above, there's a GS.

See what I mean. hehe

I remember the Citroen GS to be quite a popular car in the early/mid 80's, I think they were the equivalent AX/Visa of the day.

Thought you people might like this superb old picture in the Mail today. The caption reads "Motorists pull up to have their tanks filled personally by staff at a gas station in the German city of Delmenhorst. The picture was taken in 1958"

If you went into the shop of the petrol station, you'd find that they sell fuses, bulbs, oil, fuel filters, fan belts and spark plugs.

Nice find!

Other gas stations from that article:

Caption: "The bomber gas station in Milwaukee, Oregon, always caught the eye of passing motorists thanks to the actual B-17 bomber used in the Second World War perched on the top of the pumps. The plane was named Lacey Lady and the gas station ran its business from 1947 to 1991. After it closed it was converted into The Bomber Restaurant - and the bomber remained on the site. The aircraft was painstakingly dismantled in 2014 and taken to a hangar to be restored"

Caption: "The Frank Seneca service station that stands out to drivers in West Allis, Wisconsin, thanks to its bright red and orange colours. And Japanese temple styling. It opened in 1927 and was owned by Wadhams Oil and Grease Company. It was restored to its former glory in 2000 and the building still stands on the road side"

Caption: "A vintage Union 76 gas station in Tuscon, Arizona, that was taken in 1979. It’s A Gas! explores the surprisingly diverse world of the gas station"

Caption: "The Redwood Tree service station in Ukiah, California, is actually attached to the stump of a 1,500-year-old tree. Now the building serves as a museum"

Dated 4th August 1967 in Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames - some interesting vehicles, not least the BMW in the right-turn lane, a 700? Its registration, 80 PE, is quite good too. The bus is a 1949 Bedford OB.

The scene today has changed little; the Catherine Wheel is now a Wetherspoons but the rest is remarkably similar.
