How about a 'period' classics pictures thread
Discussion
Lovely cars when running well but they liked to eat camshafts fairly regularly, and certainly up here in the North of Scotland it wasnt unknown for them to fail there first MOT for severe corrossion and yet Ive seen a 10 year old one from France that was still like new underneath.
I would seriously doubt there are as many as you could count on on hand left now if any.

Posting the Chrysler pic has prompted a childhood memory - a school mate of mine's parents were divorced in '75 and his Mum was receiving regular 'visits' from the suave and somewhat hursuite geezer who was the piano player with the Sid Lawrence Orchestra, he'd arrive at the house on a Sunday afternoon as regular as clockwork and be gone by about tea time, rawing off in his Chrysler, a white one with a black vinyl roof just as per the photo.

How Many Left says there's 2 x 180's left and 2 x 2 Litre auto's, so 4 in total.Maybe a couple more rusting away in the odd garage somewhere that have longed dropped off the DVLA database perhaps?

Here is how to look an idiot 1st class ..Sometime '78....Me with Shell nylon rally jacket with Porsche badge sewn on it,
You werent the only one who loved their nauncy rally jacket, except mine had JPS patches.... Me as a sullen 12 year old at the local Aston dealers roadshow where I got to sit in the Bulldog. They sold Lotus at the time too and had an Essex Esprit on display, but in those pre-digital days every picture cost £ and my Kodak instamatic was st indoors. Shame as it would have been nice to see which number it was.

My guess it's an import from somewhere else (Eire/Channel Islands etc) as in those days an import was registered corresponding to the import date, not the manufacture date as now. There were very few Mk2 Escorts left unsold that got a X reg, let alone hanging around for 2 years unregistered to get a Y plate (last cars were built mid-summer 1980)It was made in Germany and bought by a forces lad who brought it back with him when he returned to the UK. Which route he took I don't know. You lot are all clued up here......

Mid 80’s to early 90’s, some are becoming classics, some perhaps not......
16 years old, daily transport...
17yrs, passed driving test, rusty but great fun
18yrs, green one fell apart
Moment of madness, wanted an alfasud sprint but bought this..
Came to my senses, now 20 years young..
21 years young..
23 years young, check out this 13inch steel rims and plastic trims....
25 years young, dream car purchased.....still own it.

ouch!Probably pointless asking as you can't alter the mindset of those on here who think they're funny.

Watched the beginning of The Ipcress File 1965 earlier.
Only standout car amongst 99% of British cars was a white FIAT 500 parked outside the Admiralty.
Don't suppose 500s were very common ,apart from ex pats.
One of the main reason I watch films like that is to drink in the backdrop. Hardly any traffic, park where you want, even at the Albert Hall, two hours on the meter with two hours grace and you can top up without having to move on. MK3 Zodiac, R type Continental, fin tail ambulance etcetera. Only standout car amongst 99% of British cars was a white FIAT 500 parked outside the Admiralty.
