How about a 'period' classics pictures thread
Discussion
Hi Bob,
As far as I am aware mine is the only one in the UK but of course surprises are always possible.
We also have a very early IM Torino Italia coupe I've been restoring over the last couple of years. I know there are a couple of those over here.

On the theme of period photos, below are some potentially interesting irems I dug out from my files:
This is about 1983 or 84 and pictures my buddy Ken and I next to our cars at RAF Halton. This was taken a few moments after we agreed a straight swap of cars and was taken to commemorate that event. On the left is me (aged about 19 or 20 at that time) with the 1970 Dodge Challenger (equipped with a straight six that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding and 3 speed manual box) and Ken with my old 1969 Pontiac Firebird Sprint "BLE 74S". The Firebird was an interesting car as it was fitted with an OHC Straight Six with four barrel Rochester carb producing a factory purported 230bhp backed up with a Hurst shifted four speed manual. In retrospect, I should have hung on to it but the Challenger was in my eyes the more visually appealing car at the time. About 20 years ago I rang up DVLA (when you could still actually speak to someone) an enquired about the existence of the car but whilst BLE74S was still on their system (and still is), the date of last activity suggests it is probably long gone.

Continuing in that theme, Q671JDV was another 69 Sprint that I imported from the Netherlands in about 1985 after regretting getting rid of BLE74S. Unfortunately it was never the car that BLE was and again ended up with Ken before being sold on. The Q plate was allocated because it came in on a Netherlands police issued replacement title which did not include the date of first registration.

Fast forward to 1985 and this 55 Chevy was acquired from a trader by the name of Milton ????? near Chelsea bridge to turn into a kind of two-lane blacktop style of car. Unfortunately it never got finished and was sold off to fund my wedding - that turned out to be a rather regrettable choice!

Still trading in classic yank stuff today, under the Dream Cars name.
Wow, great to see he's still on the scene. Back in those days he was trading out of a block of flats and the cars were just stashed on open ground outside - all except a 49 Mercury sled he had locked away in an adjacent underground car park. Great bloke with real enthusiasm for what he was selling.

Glad that people are enjoying these!
The next few date again from the mid '60s and are relatives' cars.
To explain the first, it's at a wedding, my uncle worked for the company that printed wrappers for Mars so they used wrappers to decorate the car!

Brilliant to see. I used to live in Laurencekirk for about 25 years and we used to often nip across to Banchory on that road. I remember stopping a few times at the little café there for ice cream in the silver bowl and some Irn Bru. Here it is now, and a period postcard. I can see 19 cars and a coach in the postcard pic! Triumph Herald, Zodiac MK2, Farina something, a tiny car in front of the Zodiac, Guessing
Standard 10, then 105e last before the brook. Climbing the hill I'd say a Vanguard MK3. Another Herald and a couple of others I can't name, near the farm gate on the right. Will maybe risk another look after tonight's wine allocation!
