Here is a picture of my tvr Tuscan I owned in the 70s wish I could remember the reg as would like to know if it's still on the go, I sold the car in Stockton on tees in the north east.
Although I've never owned a TVR, a late 60s or early 70s Tuscan - or even a Vixen - is very high on my 'One Day' List.52classic said:
Lovely batch of pics Crosswise. My favorite is the airport apron one. Handley Page Hermes - A reminder of just how good we were at designing aeroplanes before the Americans hijacked the market.
I'm guessing the location is in Italy, judging by that gorgeous tanker.
Thanks, I had been wondering what it was. The slides are titled Holy Land, but I've looked back through them and the next picture is of Rome from the air so I think you're absolutely right, they must've had a refuelling stop in Italy.I'm guessing the location is in Italy, judging by that gorgeous tanker.

6 and 27 are from Aachen (Aix-la-Chapelle).
Yes, there are loads from there as they went every year with the Lions club I believe. There are all sorts of locations as they travelled around the world over the course of a few years, it would've been quite unusual to travel that far at the time I should imagine. Is that Broadway NYC? Interesting to see 'theatre' spelt correctly in neon.
Where is the mosque located?

It's definitely New York, so very likely Broadway. I thought exactly the same!Is that Broadway NYC? Interesting to see 'theatre' spelt correctly in neon.

I don't have the slides to hand at the moment, but I believe that one is from the set titled Holy Land. I wouldn't be certain which countries that embodied now, let alone in the mid 60s, but my guess would be it's the area geographically referred to as Palestine.

Here she is at 'the wheel', but she couldn't drive.
I think that is boyfriend Justin de Villeneuve (Nigel Davies!) next to her in that publicity shot. I also reckon that is when the car had been shipped over to here for her in the UK.
Note the tyres, Dunlop SP's!
No Bridgestones or Yokos. But to be fair I think a major Japanese tyre co. Sumi something or other had acquired the rights to Dunlop in Japan in the 60s? Too complicated for me, someone on here will know.

My memories of the early 80's is that everyone was obligated by law to drive a mark iv Cortina, yet here we have the Alpine, a 2CV, a GSA and what looks like a Renault 30 (the 20 had square headlights I think, so this is a 30) poking out in front of the Landie. How fancy!I love your pics Maurice. Love the dirty Lambo, and the sinister body kit on the Lagonda. Is it a Tickford?
What's the story with the badly parked Porsche I wonder? LHD and "UAE 5AD" plate - not a UK reg?

Great pictures Crosswise.
Very surprised to see what appears to be a Humber Super Snipe in the New York shot (on right behind the yellow cab)!!
Seems to be here, West 49th Street. Hotel on the left hand side is still roughly the same towards the top ("Hotel Forrest" in the old photo) and the Ambassador sign on the right also ties up with the sign above the door for the theatre showing "Chicago". Struggling to get the same perspective in Google though.Great pictures Crosswise.

Humber Snipes were exported to the US in reasonable quantities
