I passed the Driving Test in a Mk2 Zodiac like that in 1962. It was YXA 594 and they were 3 speed column change (or auto)

It'll be a while until I need to worry about motive power, anyway - plenty to do before I get to that stage...
thumbup

Obviously you'll be dropping in a crated V8, or similar paperbag
That would be the PH thing to do, would it not?

I do have a dilemma in this respect, in that despite not having the wheezy old sidevalve lump in hand a number of period go-faster bits came with it that it would be a shame not to use (natty I-O-E manifold, diddy twin SUs, Aquaplane head and so on). Should be looking at a massive power increase of 40% with that lot, ie up to the dizzy heights of 14bhp.

What's a chap to do...? whistle

The caravan is a c1961/62 Bluebird Sun Parlour II which was one of their better models and above the very basic Peerless and early Challenger models. Bluebird caravans were always “value” models and built to a price. In period my parents and their friends had a number of caravans including Sprite Major from 1956, Pemberton Starlight, Paladin Trailavan, Willerby Home, Eccles and even a super rare “Three Towns” built in Torquay in 1962 of which I think only three were ever made. 🙂🙂

If you have all of the iconic sidevalve tuning stuff, then it must be tempting to keep it original.

Otherwise, an old A series would look good in there and has plenty of tuning potential.

Nice project!

Thedugmaster is right, it was trousers wink

Pardon the gratuitous swinging London sixties pic but I was looking at this a minute ago and noticed the Bizzarrini 5300GT Strada parked on the right next to the Mini, behind the geezer with the trippy sports jacket...

PS - ta for the confirmation on the Leicester pic gents.

Only ever used in the pilot film though, never in any episodes of the series.

Thanks Pat. There's much to weigh up! I do have a warm Mini engine in hand, hadn't even considered it in context of The Special.

I'll stop hijacking the pictures thread now, as mine are a good few pages old.

Most likely to be Liverpool or possibly Manchester.
