Had a beautiful Escort Goldcrest 1.6 (711M block) XWP361W , they were also available in 1.3. Was a great car the rims were standard in the metallic brown colour and even the vinyl roof was an almost bronze colour. Had it for about 5 yrs in early ‘90s and went all over Europe in it with the SEOC. My brother still has two mint Silver Harriers which he has owned since maybe 1988. I will dig out some pictures
I had a silver Harrier 1986-1990 and was in the Sporting Escort Owners Club too. Its still alive and one of only 13 silver ones left (apparently) - mine was KWK222V.
Did try to contact the owner via the Harrier club site forums but got no reply.
Sold it for £1300 and wish I could have kept it but just started to rust and it did my head in trying to patch it up hence the move to fibreglass cars.
FFG.

I love the way none of us even give a mention to the old Fords and Singer/Hillman thing.

apart from me paperbag
I'd love a Zodiac like that and if that's a Gazelle I had one like it. Mine was two tone grey/black , what I can't understand is why I think that one, which is not two tone, is a Gazelle and not a Minx.

... it's a Minx - Gazelle lllB (the one with the wrap over fins) had round lights at the back, three each side

Having spent a few mins. on Google it would appear that all Gazelles had a two tone flash down the side.

I saw that one being towed somewhere in May 2012. Think it was M25/A3 area, got my mate to snap a couple of pictures!
Also, seem to remember it appearing on ebay shortly after so could be anywhere now..

Apologies for upside down pics, cant work out how to reshape them.

Didn't have Cibies on when I sold it (just the standard spots) but did have the square number plate. I did see it had been for sale but sold when I found the link.

Wow that long ... my first 'nice' car was a 1964 Sunbeam Rapier IV bought in 1968

as I said above, it was 46 years ago so I have a right to forget. Mine was black with a grey flash, it had red leatherette seats, 'wood' dash and door cappings, floor gear change and overdrive. I seem to remember the driver's side window wound down faster than the others for speed of opening. I swapped it with my brother in law for a Mini.
The number on the Gazelle was 361 BGT.

Easy. Open pics in any pic prog, something simple like Paint even, and rotate. Just get an extra 'Thumbsnap' logo!

I would say for 46 years ago you have a marvelous memory, noting wrong with your grey cells. smile

My brother had a Gazelle, dark blue with a grey grey flash, unfortunately he crashed it after only a few weeks so I never got to ride in it much. Later on he got a Rapier which we resprayed two tone dark green. The Rootes cars were rather nice I thought.

I can remember numbers. I can recite loads of my old cars numbers, I just forgot about the 3 separate rear lights. Huge great grey Bakelite steering wheel with a chrome horn ring. What I can really remember though is the old car smell of damp it always had . It was probably 11-12 years old when I got it. You could sit and watch it rust for fun.

Johan Cruijff's pad in the '70s...

PS : I've seen his surname spelt five different ways, apologies if my version is wrong!

Y is often used in place of the Dutch ij in names, like van Nistelrooij, or Spijker for example. Some fonts would use a character that looks like a y with two dots above

Those of Paul Mariner I'm guessing are Ipswich (924) and rural Suffolk (911)? Don't recognise either mind.

It's 100% a Hillman Minx, a Series III a/b/c 1959-63 model with folded over fins and the oval tail lights. The badge on the door could read either Minx or 1600 but it's too hard to read.
