Well I have to say that I'm dead chuffed with the response - for more than two years and this is my first response over 100! thank you, you lot!
Now...... moving swiftly on.... ....... I have to agree with -
Jbutler - sorry! although the SD1 was lovely, a 2.3 Estate on steel wheels with a cartoon estate slapped on the back, one step removed from an Allegro and an asthmatic engine (and I'm allowed to say that!) was ....
The 800 Estate however, was another matter (I had a black Vitesse years ago - seriously fast - massive scuttle shake as evidenced coming down the M40 lol! seriously quickly!) despite your photoshop pic's they were lovely, very classy, very elegant.
47P2 posted some really nice shots of the R800. The early one didn't really work for me albeit it possibly because with a retrospective view it looks, well.... you know... having said that however I really liked the Ministerial 800 Estate- that could have caught on surely! a lot classier than the Renault 25 Est - merely a hatch with a box stuck on the back!
Slowmax - I loved that Maserati! very tasteful (except for the headlamps...sssssshhhh! )
The Quattro's by Rouleur - very cool!
Conian - I'd never seen that E Type before, so thanks for that- I'll add that to my knowledge bank. Not only do I consider myself a big Jag fan but somewhere in the closet, I also confess I really like Cat Stevens before he became a WHY (oh yes - whilst we're about it I also like Neil Diamond )
The Merc by Tog, that's really nice that gets a thumbs up too, though sorry! not the SM by Trommel (sorry mate!) c'mon it looks like a dog's dinner. Not even the Le-Mans version breadvan improved on it, did it? Somewhat like putting a moustache on the Mona Lisa.
Why is it that some conversions's work really well but other's don't? -. I've been looking at the pic's and have to agree with Ajax50
It set me thinking -again- lol! What is it that defines success or conversely elegance?.Is it that elegance is the conversion of success? I think it's to do with slimness of proportion and that's what we're attracted to.
See, I like the the 635 or whatever posted by Sharknose - I like that,it's got a proportion of stance that balances itself, somewhat like the Aston Virage
Look at the 504 Estate or the 130- yes they're both Pinin design but look at the XJ308 or Avon Estate with the heavy buttress (and I'm a massive Jag fan!) they're both too heavy round the flank.
The 456 Est however whilst heavy in the "rear" is pretty darn perfection! So does that bring me back to an earlier post about what we like .... read - our other halve's )
Just for the record - I like slim with a little bit of shape ....... Giggle! ; :
