I am the world’s biggest fan of the W126 but that is gopping.

Sad thing is, if the W126 was a current model, with MB’s product range approach, they’d probably build it

That's a lazy W126 estate. You need one like this 560 SEL - look at the finish, could be a factory build.

Jonathan Ross has a modern version of this for his missus.
Not sure if he was being ironic, didnt want to cut up a £100k e-type or just wanted to update it, but heres the original from "Harold & Maude"

Is that a screen grab off something? I'd be interested in knowing its (and the image's) origins.

My father ordered a Ford Cortina Mk1 GT Estate as a special order in about 1964.
I have never seen or heard of another but I see on googling that they may have made less than 100, and not for the general public.
It has the GT dashboard with the four minor gauges set up in the middle and a rev counter.
Anybody else seen one?
He then had two Mk 2GT Estates, the first again with the high minor instruments and the second with them lowered ( for safety?)
He wanted a Mk 3 but they refused to do it. Were there any made with twin headlamps?
Went on to standard Mk 4 estate after that.
I am sure that there are old photos on slides of them all but I cannot be faffed to digitalise them unless anybody particularly wants to see them (doubtful!)

Dammit, the cheapest slide to digital thingy on Amazon is fifty quid!
It would be much cheaper for me if you could just imagine a Cortina Mk1 GT Estate!

Probably posted before but this was at Brooklands on Saturday at the Italian Car Show. One of two I believe and now it is UK registered

Why would they cdecide that although customers might want a relatively speedy saloon they wouldn't be interested in a similar estate.
looks great with the green stripe.

The market for estate vehicles was very different then, they were seen as utility vehicles, vans with windows. Even now, sporty estates aren't particularly big sellers in the grand scheme of things.

A seriously flawed/awkward looking design!

I'm sure if BMW had decided to make an e23 estate, it would have looked tidier than that.
